| | This is the last page of the guide... phew!
I've just listed a few short tips that I think you might find helpful.
Although they aren't huge, if you put them together you might find your RPing
skills increase a bit.

 | RE-CHECK EVERY POST YOU DO! I know you've probably been told this
before a thousand times, but it is the trademark of a really good
RPer. You need to check for spelling mistakes (I use www.iespell.com
), grammar mistakes, comma misusage, areas where you can add more detail,
etc... |
 | Set goals for yourself. Don't just jump right into the advanced RPer
thing... start pushing yourself to add a few more sentences to each
post. Then another paragraph. Then two more... before long,
you'll be one of the best RPers on any site you go to. You just have
to push yourself! You can achieve anything if you strive far enough. |
 | Take your time when writing posts. A lot of people rush the post
simply so that they can reply, and get on with the RP. You don't want
to take FOREVER, as you aren't writing a novel, but you do want to make your
RP sound as if you spent some time on it. If you think about each
detail topic, such as sight, hearing, smell... you'll have an excellent
post. |
 | Don't compare your writing style with another person's. As long as
you have detail, it doesn't matter whether you use italics or not.
Uniqueness is what makes sites special, so be UNIQUE! |
 | Use correct grammar and punctuation! I can guarantee this makes your
posts look a lot better then they actually are (LoL). I HATE seeing
people who have extremely long run-on sentences, or who put far too many
comma's. Make sure each sentence sounds correct before moving onto the
next one. |
 | Use a thesaurus! I'll even admit that I use one occasionally, when
my creativity is low and I can think of no unique words. www.thesaurus.com |
 | DO NOT REPEAT YOURSELF! This includes thoughts AND words. If
you use the same word twice in a sentence, it sounds TERRIBLE! *gags
self* That is one of the worst mistakes, and you see newbie's doing it
all the time. You want to change what words you use, otherwise people
are going to get bored and annoyed. |
 | Enjoy your character, the site you are RPing on, and the plots you are
in. If you don't enjoy yourself, you're not going to write good
RP's. HAVE FUN! |
