Classical Music and Opera

Exchange

Are you a music lover, enthusiast or simply a fanatic?

Are you looking for more than good sound and perfect balance?

Are you tired of ‘tired’ studio recordings?

Is the performance paramount?

If your answers are yes, then please read on………..

Over the past three years we have drawn together into one archive the private collections of ‘live’ performances of opera and orchestral music held by dedicated collectors from around the world. Our aim was to bring these people together for the purpose of exchanging and sharing their treasured performances. In this we have been extremely successful – just browse through the lists to see how successful we have been – and there is much, much more waiting to go on!

Performances are listed alphabetically in the Composer List. Recitals, singers and miscellaneous items are listed alphabetically under the artists name in the Singers and Artists List. To enter the catalogue just click below and you will be taken to the index page.

We also offer to members a ‘Your Requests’ page where members can post details of any performance they are looking for.

For non-members we offer an ‘Access Facility’ whereby performances can be obtained for a modest handling charge. E-mail us at bdt@barrydavid.fsnet.co.uk for further information.

Whilst browsing this site, please remember that:

Ø          This is not a commercial venture. The purpose of Opera Exchange is to bring people together to share performances, which are solely for their private use and personal enjoyment.

Ø          Recordings listed on this site are from PRIVATE collections. Because of the variations in recording techniques, the sources and age of some of the performances – the sound quality may vary enormously.

Ø          None of the performances listed on this site are held centrally.

Ø        This site can only function properly if members remain committed to its aims. There is absolutely no point in joining Opera Exchange if you are not prepared to share and exchange performances in your collection as well as contributing to the ‘Access Facility’.

Finally, Opera Exchange is the only site of its kind on the net and, so far as we are aware, anywhere else – a unique document of performances that would otherwise be lost to the world of music.
