a portrait of what it's like to go cruising,
to become a vagabond in the Pacific,
to be caught in the great South Pacific Eddy,
for twelve glorious years
* * *
Coconut palms swaying on tropical atolls,
the peace of secluded anchorages,
the beauty of lush islands,
the sensory overload of vibrant blue lagoons ...
These romantic visions of
cruising the South Pacific
provided the inspiration behind the perspiration
lost in our quest for getting out there
and doing it.
Doing what?
Cruising the South Pacific!
Getting Caught in the Eddy!
But, when someone asks "why?"
why we cruised
the islands of the southwest Pacific,
for so long,
we simply say: "We loved it!"
besides
no better, alternative, way of life
comes to mind!
- meeting local people and like-minded travelers -
- visiting remote villages and foreign ports -
- learning about other cultures and beliefs -
- delighting in the good fellowship of island people -
these were the real reasons for our Pacific wanderings,
our excuse for getting stuck,
the cosmic cause of our inability to escape
and why we became caught
in the grasp of
The Great South Pacific Eddy
for so long.
