Maidstone and District
In the traditional Maidstone and District livery with
fleetname the Albion Nimbus was a forerunner of the midibus which found favour
with a few large fleets. It is seen here at the former "Fairlight" terminus
at Mill Lane, during an enthusiasts run in the early 1990's
A Leyland Panther seen at Hastings Station on a running
day. The Panther was not one of Leyland's most successful bus.
A Hastings bus rally on the Oval some time in the mid
90's as a Maidstone and District Bristol K double decker prepares to take
enthusiasts on a tour of former M&D routes in the town.
East Kent
East Kent Leyland Tiger PS1 registration number CFN104
(East Kent did not use fleet numbers at the time). the bus is seen at Duxford
in September 1998 and has a 32 seat Park Royal coach body
Seen on a Wednesday evening in August 1997, No82 (DHC782E)
is a Leyland Titan PD2A/30 of 1967 with St Helens style glass fibre bonnet
and concealed radiator. The service was run by Eastbourne Buses between the
Leisure Centre and the foot of Beachy Head using classic buses and advertised
in the main timetable. Unfortunately this service was not repeated in 1998
although the bus is now in the traditional blue and primrose livery and can
be seen in normal service at times. Southdown
Seen at the Hastings rally on the oval in 1998, organised
by the Hastings Trolleybus Group, this is open top Bristol VR/ECW was one
of a batch of 50 specially made by ECW as convertables in 1977/78. 11 went
to Western National/Devon General, 6 to Hants and Dorset (but soon went to
Southern Vectis) and 3 to South Wales Transport. Southdown took the remaining
30 of which unusually 10 including this one , were dual door, passing to
Brighton and Hove on the split from Southdown
