- PREAMBLE
We, the members of the UP Paranormal Society,
in order to establish an organization that shall promote awareness
and understanding of paranormal phenomena through scientific research and
investigation, do hereby ordain and promulgate this constitution.
Article I: NAME AND HEADQUARTERS
Section 1. This constitution shall
establish a university-based organization which will be called the UP
Paranormal Society.
Section 2.
This constitution shall be known as the “Consitution of the UP
Paranormal Society” and shall govern all plans, actions, and principles
of the organization.
Section 3.
The organization shall be based in the University of the Philipines,
Diliman, Quezon City.
Article II: BELIEFS AND PRINCIPLE
Section 1. The organization believes that
the psychic realm exists and therefore paranormal phenomena should be
studied and given as much importance as other fields.
Section 2. The
organization believes that the paranormal is a multidisciplinary field of
inquiry such that to gain full understanding, one has to explore all areas
of human knowledge and experience.
Section 3. The
organization believes that every human being has inert psychic abilities
and that these should be full recognized and developed.
Article III: OBJECTIVES
The following are the objectives of the
organization:
a. To foster among the students of the university the need to seek higher
ideals in life through the realization that humankind is not just composed
of the body, but the trinity of body, mind, and spirit.
b. To promote awareness of paranormal phenomena through talks, symposiums,
intellectual discussions, sharing of experiences, meditation exercises,
field trips, and other related activities, often with the help of a
psychic professional.
c. To encourage research regarding paranormal phenomena and its relation
to other fields, similar to that of the sciences.
d. To help strengthen the intuitive and psychic abilities of each member.
e. To foster unity and camaraderie among all members.
f. To promote and protect the rights and welfare of each individual
member.
g. To establish and maintain links in networks with other groups and
organizations within and outside the university for the purpose of
promoting interest in the paranormal phenomena.
Article IV: MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. Classification of Members
1.) Regular Members are those (1) who are
currently enrolled in the University of the Philippines; (2) have
completed the application process; and (3) have renewed their membership.
a.) Active: Those who actively participate in the
officials meetings and activities of the organization.
b.) Inactive: Those who are absent during
one-half of the total officials meetings and activities for the whole
semester without submitting a formal letter of excuse for each absence and
those members who through a submission of a formal letter expressed their
reasons for applying for inactivity.
2.) Honorary Members are individuals who (1) are not bona fide students of
the University of the Philippines; (2) willing to accept the limitations
of their membership; (3) are of legal age or have been given parental
consent to join the organization; (4) has exhibited exemplary dedication
to the organization for a period of 1 year; (5) have been approved by the
absolute majority.
3.) Alumni Members are (1) regular members in the past who have graduated
from the University of the Philippines; and (2) are currently giving
significant contributions and assistance to the organization. Alumni’s,
as opposed to alumni members, are those only defined by (1)
Section 2. Application Requirements for
Regular Membership
1.) An applicant must be a bona fide student
in the University of the Philippines, and must submit the following at the
beginning of the application period:
a.) An accomplished application form.
b.) A certified true copy of his/her form 5 for the
current semester.
c.) 2 1x1 ID’s
d.) The designated application fee
Failing to do so would omit the chances of the individual in joining the
organization for that semester.
2.) An applicant must undergo the application and induction
procedures administered and supervised by the Vice President for Internal
Affairs.
Section 3. Application Period for Regular
Membership
1.) The application period will begin at the
start of every semester and will last for the duration of the semester.
2.) The application process during this period must have undergone the
proper protocol before it is administered:
a.) The application process envisioned by the Internals
Committee must be written in a formal proposal to be submitted to the
President.
b.) The President will then consult the General
Assembly, subjecting the proposal to their approval.
c.) The proposal must be approved by the simple
majority.
d.) In any event that time constraint or any legitimate
cause may affect the application process, the Vice President for Internal
Affairs may make minor modifications in the procedures, provided that the
president is informed of these changes.
e.) Also, at any time that the General Assembly is not
present to approve the constitution, the approval of the High Council and
the Faculty Adviser will suffice.
Section 4. Qualifications for Regular
Membership
1.) The applicant must have accomplished the
necessary requirements dictated in Section 1.
2.) The application must have undergone the application procedures
administered by the Internals Committee.
3.) The application must have undergone the induction procedures
administered by the Internals Committee.
Section 5. Application for Honorary and
Alumni Membership
1.) A person who wishes to be an honorary or
alumni member must show exemplary dedication to the organization for a
period of one (1) year before being admitted as a member.
2.) A general assembly at the beginning of every semester is held to
decide who shall be considered honorary and alumni members for the
semester on the basis of his/her active participation in the organization
for the past one (1) year.
3.) Recently graduated regular members are automatically considered as
alumni members if they express their wish to be so.
Section 6. Renewal of Membership
1.) Renewal of membership shall be opened at
the beginning of every semester.
2.) Regular members applying for renewal must submit the following
requirements:
a.) An accomplished Renewal Form
b.) The designated renewal fee
c.) A certified true copy of his/her Form 5 for the
current semester
d.) A 2x2 ID
3.) Inactive members must undergo the following procedures to be
re-admitted as a regular member:
a.) He/she must submit a letter addressed to the
Chairperson for Members requesting to be re-admitted as a regular member.
The reason for not being able to join in the activities of the
organization must also be stated in the letter.
b.) The request will then be subjected to the approval
of the General Assembly.
c.) His/her renewal must be approved by the absolute
majority.
- Section 7.
Constitutional Rights of Members
1.) The active
regular members of the UP Paranormal Society:
a.) shall constitute the general assembly
b.) shall cast one vote for each position during
elections
c.) shall have the right to run or be nominated in any
elective position
d.) shall be given access to both official and
non-official documents of the organization
e.) shall avail of the organization’s facilities and
services, as well as carry the name of the organization in whatever
productive endeavor he/she wishes to achieve.
f.) shall speak, make suggestions or make criticisms,
and vote during the general assembly
g.) shall report any misdemeanor done by another member
without tainting the truth.
h.) shall participate in organization activities.
2.) The inactive regular members of the UP Paranormal Society:
a.) shall participate in organization activities
b.) shall be given access to both official and
non-official documents of the organization
c.) shall speak, make suggestions or make criticisms
during general assemblies
d.) shall report the misdemeanor done by another member
without tainting the truth.
e.) shall avail of the organization’s facilities
3.) The honorary and alumni members of the of the UP Paranormal Society
a.) shall participate in the activities of the
organization
b.) shall offer help of any kind to the organization
c.) shall speak, make suggestions or offer criticisms
during general assemblies but cannot vote.
d.) shall use facilities and services of the
organization.
