Hopefully you arrived at this page without any problems.
If you did have problems you probably won't be reading this
anyway.
I am having BIG problems with the web site at the
moment - basically we have run out of web space and this is all there is
at the moment.
Working on a solution - but that could well take a
number of days.
e-mail me at Rob
Jones if you have photos or any other info
Please be patient with this page, as we add more photos it
takes longer to load.

9.
Cheers for this one Paul. Ignore my e-mail asking you to send it again.
This one is a bit small to recognise many faces, but suggestions always
welcome. Is that Jimmy Edwards I spy in the spiv suit, front row.
Paul has also sent us a poster which appears on the adverts page. |
 |
Pic
10.
Thanx for this photie go to Colin Hughes (Paul's brother). He also sent a
long e-mail, some of which is published on the Panthers page, some on the
Guestbook page, the rest is here. "This picture was taken in the bay window
(overlooking Woolies) in the upstairs bar in Paynes (I think it was called the
cocktail bar). At the front of the table we have Norman, then from the
left, can't remember this lad's name, Vince Algieri, Little Ian, Jeff Dodd, John
Ivor, Pat ????, Me (Colin Hughes).

 |
Pic
11.
Yes I know that this picture is exactly the same as Pic 9, but Paul Hughes' wife
has very kindly enlarged and enhanced it. People are now
recognisable. Yes it was Jimmy Edwards in the front, but, for some reason,
he seems to be
wearing a wig.
Paul says
Rob, I have scanned this picture again and my wife has enhanced it to try and
make it a bit clearer but it a very old photo! Names i know on the photo are
from left to right, Nia, Haf, Allan Welch, Dave Marsh, Geoff Pike, Jimmy
Edwards, Geoff Priddle, Norman Gardener, Robin Holden, Me, Robin Baguley,

Howly suggests additional names: Joe King, Janice Tidswell, Sue
Lockett, Genene Gillen, Jenny Henderson, Georgina ??, Lewis Evans
|
BONANZA Time - Thanks to Garry Carr for the next 30 Pics
Names to faces would be a big help.
Most of these pictures were extremely small (2 x 2 inches) and extremely
dark. I have enlarged them and turned up the brightness, but with some it
still hasn't helped........better than no pictures though.
|
 |
Pic
12
Sorry, don't recognise a soul in this picture. If any of them are you
or you know who they are, send an e-mail.
|
 |
Pic
13
I never used to hang out outside the ladies loos, so this one is a mystery
also. Names to faces please.
Dan suggests the name Linda Jones for girl on right ???
|
 |
Pic
14 I recognise these, no names but, I'm sure they are from Conwy, one on the
right called Jackie ???? Sharron Lennon (Thomas) sent me an e-mail to let me
know the girls are Eleanor Williams and Jacqueline Rowlands, and they are
on separately 38 + 40. Cheers Sharon. Incidentally Sharon also tells the tale that there was rumour / gossip going around at the
time that the guy who used to take these pictures (rumour
has it, allegedly and all that) would take the heads of all the young ladies from Paynes
and stick them onto other bodies (in revealing poses, if you get my
drift). Well this seems a remarkable coincidence 'cos
I was talking to Ruth (memory cell containing surname destroyed by alcohol) one
evening last week when shopping in Tescos in the Junction and she said the very
same thing. So it obviously goes without saying that if anyone comes across
(and I mean that in the most innocent of ways) any of these dodgy photos
we would be very pleased to publish them. (the author of
this site and the contributors above are merely reporting the fact that a rumour
was circulating and do not in any way corroborate or substantiate that the
editing of photographs in the method described above actually took place)
|
 |
Pic
15
Not a clue as to who these lovely ladies might be. Marks out of ten and
I'd give them both........
|
 |
Pic
16 John Whitely (originally from the Junction) with two lovely ladies on his
arms. The one on the right was in my class in John Bright, I think it's
Marcia Lazar, you remember the shop on Madoc Street. Don't recognise the
lady on the left, will John (or anybody else) remember.
|
 |
Pic
17 Nia or Haf ??? they seem to be in a lot of photos. Names for
the rest of the crew please ???? Dan suggests Steve McCartney for
the Guy on the floor. I thought his name was Steve also. I think he
lives in Rhos now ??
|
 |
Pic
18 Must be the same night as Pic 17. Nia or Haf is wearing the same
clobber. Let the "no-names" be given names - e-mail us

29 Recognise the lady on the left, but can't put a name to the
face. Help !!! Dan suggests the
names Jean Lancaster and Jean Grundy for the ladies in this picture.
|
 |
Pic
30 Should remember the guy's name, you know, from Llandudno.
Who are the girls ??? The guy is Robert Hawkins ( had a nickname
something like Hawkeye). Dan suggests that the ladies are --- Sue
Lancaster and Pearl Hobson----not too sure about these IDs, can anybody else
confirm.
|
 |
Pic
31 Billy no mates ??
|
 |
Pic
32 Big crew - no names
|

didn't she used to be known as Dinah ???

70 Apologies for taking so long to get this photo onto the
page. Sent in by Paul Valencia from Bangor. That's Paul on the left,
Joe Brett in the middle and Dave Price on the right. Picture was taken in
the photo booth outside Woolies across the road from Paynes. Not very
clear in the photo but you can just make out that at the bottom of the picture
Paul is holding a copy of James Brown's There Was A Time (on the Polydor label
if I remember rightly). Met Paul at the recent
reunion i the grand (March 2003) - names to more faces Pic 12 Hazel Miles from
Bangor, Pic 19 Ann - Girl on right of photo If any of
Paul's old friends (and we mean old in the nicest possible way) would like to
contact him try 01248 853842 |

71. This
is a picture taken on the occasion of John Ivor's 21st birthday - and I can't tell you the amount of hassle we've had trying to get this up on the
page. Thanks to John for his persistence, finally got a copy for me and
passed it on at the Junction Soul do last Saturday. I promise to get this
back to you ASAP.
Talking to John you realise that for some people Paynes was more than just somewhere to go
on a Saturday night, it was the beginning of a love affair with
soul music that is still with them now. John travelled back to Llandudno
for the Paynes reunions from Germany, Ireland and lord known where else.
Good to see him back on a "permanent" basis.
