  1. Secretary’s Report
    1. Margaret Armstrong had sent comments and advice for audited accounts and annual reports
    2. Discussion paper on “Scotland’s future landscape” received from Scottish Natural Heritage – M West for draft comments
    3. Sewerage Planning Consent for Cala had been resubmitted.  The discharge point is apparently in East Renfrewshire.
    4. Letter written to the ombudsman on non- complince with guidelines by SLC in Cala application.
    5. Report on meeting with Planning department in October.  Head of Planning said that Cala can object to limitations placed on them by the council. SLC felt this was not desirable.

  1. Councillor’s Report
    1. Councillor McCann reported that the removal of the derelict car from the field at Jackton has been done.
    2. Gaffney site – owner being pressed to tidy up and secure the site.
    3. Mr McCann was asked if he could contact Network Rail about the safety at the bridge on Peel road and its approaches

 

  1. South Lanarkshire Road Safety Proposals
    1. F McCrae introduced Mr Robertson and Mr O’Halligan who discussed proposals for slowing traffic on Peel Road

1.      Factors: accidents, vehicles per hour, speeds, footway availability, schools

2.      Hence there is a priority table with Thorntonhall at No. 34

3.      Only 3 or 4 per annum done.

    1. Possible methods of dealing with the Thorntonhall traffic problem:

1.      Humps – considered not effective

2.      Chicanes – considered dangerous on busy sites

3.      Road cushions – cost £50- 60,000

4.      Vehicle activated signs – one each end of the stretch of road.  Total cost £10,000 each.   To be tried out here.

5.      Dummy cameras – the council are not allowed to implement these

6.      Trial speed guns for local residents.

    1. Donald Robertson also expects the A726 to return to normal usage in early to end December.  There would then be a period of 9 –12 months before the road works would be reinstated.
    2. The meeting agreed that the vehicle activated signs would be the only option.  The meeting expressed unanimous thanks to SLC roads department and Councillor McCann for their help.

    1. GSO – update

1.      Section between Philipshill and Holehouse is running approx 2/3 weeks ahead of schedule.

2.      Balfour Beattie is arranging 4 weekend closures of Barbana Road during the month of November.  They will be shut from 1900hrs Friday till 0600hrs Monday.  Details will follow.

    1. PLI response has been submitted.
    2. New bollards causing problems at Braehead Road junction with Peel Road, as cars are now parking on the road.
    3. Network rail have still not secured track onto the rail.
    4. Burnt out car in Jackton – M McC to follow up with Mr Kean.
    5. Recycling – if the current pilot is successful, we should all be getting two bins for dry and wet waste.

 

  1. Planning Application
    1. Other Planning Applications

1.      Site by 61 Peel Road  - application withdrawn at present.

2.      Site on Peel Road beside Woodside – appeal rejected

3.      Planning approval given for extension at 1 Wellknowe Road

4.      Marjorie’s house – Awaiting outcome – now due in January

5.      Cala application now accepted by SLC, objections to be entered

6.      Hayhill – applications now formally in – No response before January

7.      Land Fill at Jackton  - proposer to supply site elevations and details of water course.

8.      Whitelee Wind Farm (140 windmills) – No objection raised.
