Buying a PC?

Computer adverts seem designed to confuse anyone without a degree in technology. But, if you can wade through the dizzying amount of jargon, you'll find that most companies seem to offer pretty much the same specification of computer for a particular price. So does it really make a difference which brand you opt for?

According to the latest survey carried out by Which Online of more than 8,000 readers, the answer's a definite yes. Sales advice, the service you get from helplines, and the reliability of your computer are all areas that can't be summed up with acronyms and numbers in glossy ads, yet they have a huge bearing on how easy you find your computer to live with.

The message from the Which Online report is clear: independent dealers provide a better all-round service than most high-street chains. And three computer manufacturers are clearly ahead of the competition. To view the full Which report entitled "Computers, Buying 2003" please Click here.
