| 1 Cliches |
A song about those little sayings we use all the time, though this is more about when not to use them.
At least one of the examples was really said.
|
| 2 Bins |
A song about one of the key issues of the day – rubbish!
|
| 3 Nosey Neighbours |
This was written about a person who lived opposite us many years ago. It isn’t about anyone who lives
close to us now so the residents of Old Tupton can relax
|
| 4 The Rape of Glencoe |
One of two traditional songs on this album. We were recently backpacking in Glencoe and couldn’t stop singing this as we walked along!
|
| 5 Careers |
For all people who like to do odd jobs
|
| 6 Off for the Op |
As cosmetic surgery is becoming very fashionable, we just had to add this lovely song to our repertoire!
|
| 7 Hills of Kerry |
A slow air composed when walking in Ireland and inspired by the rise and fall of a distant range of hills near Dingle.
|
| 8 The Press Gang |
Written for (and not about) two friends for their wedding. We aimed for a romantic song about marriage,
with a nautical feel and in a traditional style. We failed on the romantic bit.
|
| 9 Every Day's a Weekend |
We recently retired from our day jobs and this song was the result. We don’t expect any sympathy though! |
| 10 How to Walk a Hundred Miles |
We are members of the Long Distance Walkers’ Association which organises an annual 100 mile walk. This song tries to capture just how it feels to take part and is for anyone who has taken on
similar challenges such as climbing Mount Everest, swimming the English Channel or eating a Chicken Vindaloo! |
| 11 The Dog's Just Swallowed a Condom |
This is a joke Geoff found on the internet one day. We liked it so much we put it into a song.
|
| 12 Shades of Love |
A poem by Kath that she put to the tune of Bach’s Minuet in G, except we do it in D..
|
| 13 Maids When You're Young |
A light-hearted song serving as a warning to young women. Geoff reckons men get better in bed as they get older
but obviously not the one in this song!
|
| 14 Rover Wild The |
We always wanted to use a live recording of this song as we felt doing a studio version would be cheating. This was recorded at The Attic Folk Club, Chesterfield
and is dedicated to the memory of organiser David Davidson who died in 2007.
