"Penny Bun"

This was our first CD and was made at The Foundry Studio in Chesterfield. It is a mix of traditional songs and a selection of our own humorous ditties.

1 Don't Touch That! (Deighton) Reflects our passion for wild mushrooms! Health warning - don’t eat anything unless you know what it is!
2 Raglan Road (Trad arr. Penny Bun) A poem by Patrick Kavanagh to the tune of “Fainne Geal an Lae” (The Dawning of the Day). We fell in love with the song when in Ireland
3 Unanswered Questions (Deighton) A song to make you think and to get a few personal gripes off my chest!
4 Jennifer Gentle (Trad arr. Penny Bun) The question and answer theme which crops up in many traditional songs. However, in this case, everyone seems to come out a winner.
5 Global Cooling (Deighton) For all global warming sceptics! There’s a lot of licence in this song but it has an underlying serious message.
6 Matty Groves (Trad arr. Penny Bun) The definitive lust, jealousy and blood and guts traditional ballad!
7 Love on the Underground (Deighton) The aim was to get as many underground stations as possible into one song. I’ll buy a drink for anyone who can correctly list them all!

(Someone now has. In fact, they found one which I didn't know was in there! The offer still stands though.)
8 The Lorry Ride (Trad /Lisa Tubb) A song which we picked up from the singing of Kate Rusby about the exploitation of coffee pickers
9 The Stuck Needle (Deighton) A lot has got to occur for this to happen in real life but you never know!
10 A Smuggler’s Song (Words by Rudyard Kipling/Tune unknown) A delightful Kipling poem set beautifully to music. It is also a lesson in how to make your children neurotic!
11 The Everest Toilet Song (Deighton) When this song was written, the project was just at the planning stage. The toilet has now actually been built!

The CD costs just £8.00. If you would like a copy please send a cheque to the address shown on the CONTACT page, payable to Geoff Deighton.
