History Ford introduced the Si in 1994 as an insurance friendly but sporty Fiesta. It came as either a 3 or 5 door hatchback, with choice of either 1.4 or 1.6 16v Zetec engines, later being only available in 1.6 16v form, which produces 90bhp, and does 0-60 in just over 10 seconds. The Si looked very different to previous Mk 3 Fiestas, with both front and rear bumpers being of a smoother design, with two 10cm round fog lights in the front bumper and also a molded grill. It shared the same black hatch spioler as the XR2i, with an optional larger spoiler available for the tailgate, just above the rear clusters. The Si had no side skirts, but did come with small plastic extensions to the front arches, with the rear arches left as standard. Wheels came in the shape of 14" steel rims with plastic trims, with alloys as an option at extra cost, which were the same as used on the XR2i 16v. Early Si's came with the same style interior as the early XR2i's with
later ones coming with the same winged seats as XR2i 16v's. All had "Jigsaw
Raven" pattern, with a black dashboard and trim parts. The "Electric Option
Pack" was an option which consisted of central locking, remote tailgate release,
electrically-operated front windows and torch key.
