Shrewsbury Diocesan Covenant Scheme

Convenants are an important source of added income for Parishes.
They are made by people who pay income tax and they enable the recipient institution to receive money from the Inland Revenue which has been paid by the subscriber in Income Tax.

Covenants for St Luke's Parish

Covenantors are NOT asked for additional contributions to the parish, there is no request for money, since the covenant relates to those amounts which the parishioner ALREADY gives.

It is essential that parishioners who wish to benefit their parish in this way make their payments through weekly envelopes, or by cheque or bankers' order. The amount of the covenant should primarily relate to Sunday offerings, whether at the offertry, or the second collections as authorised by the Bishop, and the total may include what the covenantor and children give by weekly envelope or by cheque or bankers' order.

A covenant should only be signed by a taxpayer. The tax repaid to a covenantor's parish is therefore repaying to the parish the income tax deducted from the income of the individual.

Deed of Covenant forms are available in the foyer of St Luke's along with standing order forms.
