  LESSON
Composition is about how things are arranged in an art work.
What the work is about, e.g. 'Sport' or 'The Four Seasons', is it's Subject Matter.
Your subject matter will be affected by which composition you use,
for example triangular compositions are very stable because of their wide base
where as swirls form a lively, dynamic picture.
Choose either  'Sport' or 'The Four Seasons' as your theme (subject matter).
Sketch out your theme using at least three different compositions.
Select the best composition and produce a finished piece of work based on your arrangement.
You may shape your paper to emphasis your composition.

golden section, thirds central elliptic triangular
rectangular swirls flat, all over zigzag

Here are three basic compositions, each adds a different effect to any theme...why?
horizontal = quiet

because it is like someone asleep.
vertical = stable

because it is like someone stood up.

diagonal = lively

because it is like someone falling over.

by Mr T Adding diagonals
to Constable's 'The Haywain'
gives it more of a dynamic look.
It also hleps to show the season
as if they are moving over the land.
