Pintsize: The Story So Ska...
Pintsize are a three piece ska/punk band in the same musical vein as Common Rider and Assorted Jelly Beans. They were officially formed in The India Arms public house, Portsmouth, on 21st March 1999. Their first practice was, however, delayed unavoidably as the drummer had no arms. It took well over a month for him to grow them, and mighty useful they are too. The 'talent' only then began to flow.
At first Pintsize concentrated on learning their instruments. Then, eighty-three years later, they wrote a song. Once satisfied, they began to pen more of the aforementioned, spawning 'We Don't Make Toothpaste For Anyone Else', 'Need Another Beer' and 'No Offence', to name but a few.
Their first gig was at 'Timstock', a huge music festival held in Portsmouth, not dissimilar to Woodstock. This may sound grand but remember, you weren't there, so you don't know the half of it. Pintsize's set list of eight songs (only four of which were ours) included such slaughtered classics as 'Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?' by Snuff and the 'Nightrider Theme'. Pintsize gave up after that gig, becoming recluses, earning their keep by farming turnips in the deepest depths of inbred Hampshire (you wish).
Their first 'proper' gig, twenty nine years after 'Timstock', was at The Peel in unfortunate Kingston, supporting Humbug and Mean Mr. Mustard, where it would be fair to say that Humbug somewhat stole the show. However, leaving the punters only marginally stupefied, Pintsize gave way to let the crowd suffer Mean Mr. Mustard and went back to the studio, where they are continuing to drive ska/punk/rock/core/arse/whatever to new, lower boundaries (thwarting Less Than Jake's efforts).
