Rednal to Queens Head (Restoration) (Section2b).

Heath House, Rednal.
This was the scene of the restoration work at Heath House, Rednal during the winter.
As you can see, heavy duty piling with concrete cast behind was used to support the banks on either side of the cut and a concrete bed was laid past the old passenger terminal building to the right of the photo.

After restoration of the canal channel had been completed and re-watered.
Work was continuing on the old Packet Station that you can see to the left of the photo.

Scene from Heath House Bridge, Rednal.
Looking towards Queens Head during the winter. The dredger seen in (under) the canal had been being used on this section before the Christmas holidays. A combination of hard frost and sticky mud had held it firm on the bed as the waters rose with the fatal results that you can see.

Situated half way along the Rednal Straight. Another view of this bridge with the canal in water showing its attractive setting.

Half way along the Rednal Straight, forms an attractive frame for the view towards the Queen's Head. The low water level in this photo was to allow work to proceed on this bridge and at Queen's Head.

Looking across the meadows from the Rednal Straight.
It is said that this long,straight section of canal was used during the second world war to test prototypes of Barnes Wallace's bouncing bomb.

This photo was taken from the new road bridge at Queen's Head during its construction and shows restoration work in progress with the canal in water.

This was the scene looking towards the new Queen's Head Road Bridge taken from under the A5 Bridge whilst work was in progress.

Queens Head.
The new Queen's Head Road Bridge ( from the other side ) after completion. This bridge of square concrete sections was built to replace the blockage that had carried the old A5 trunk road. This is now a minor road . A modern road bridge built behind this, carries the New A5 high above the canal. a sign an the new road can be seen to the top right of the photo.
