Was formed by the Montgomery Waterway Restoration Trust to provide information and involvement for people living in the canal corridor, the membership of this organisation is close to a hundred individual memberships representing some three hundred people.

The weekend of the 12th 13th and 14th September was, yet again, fine and warm; and perfect weather for a boating festival.
The journey down from the Fron on Thursday started wet but dried as we went.
The art work was set out in the market hall along with the other works by organisations other than the "Friends" on Thursday morning.
We attended a reception at the Hall on Thursday evening when the exhibition was formally opened by the Town Mayor, Alan Clarke.
During the weekend the "Friends" presence was made with the signs on "Silk Purse" and we (Andy and Maree) were assisted by Frank and Helen Love, with offers of help (which wasn't in the event needed) from Jonathan and Doreen Phillips.
The art work was judged by Tony Lewery and Frank and Helen Love.
First Prize went to Isobel Jones of Four Crosses.
Isobel Williams from Pool Quay, Welshpool, was second .
Lorraine Owens of Guilsfield, third.
A big thank you to all the competition entrants.
I hope you will all enter for the 2004 competition and encourage your friends to do likewise.
John Williams, the festival organiser, assures me there will be more space next year.
I would also like to extend my thanks for all the offers of help at the festival, particularly to Maree who worked hard to get all the pictures ready for hanging .
