WHAT IS PRANIC HEALING?

Prana is the ancient Indian word for the subtle energy that permeates and sustains our bodies. The existence of this energy has been recognised by people all over the world since antiquity, and it has been called by different names such as chi in Chinese, pneuma in Greek, in Polynesian mana, and in Hebrew ruah. In recent times, terms such as bio-plasmic energy and etheric energy have been used. Many traditions have discovered the use of this energy for maintaining good health and for healing illnesses and numerous systems of healing and medicine have developed over the ages. Pranic Healing is a distillation of these ancient healing methods, and also represents their ongoing evolution. It contains the best and most useful concepts and practices from the existing systems, as well as new techniques and ideas discovered by experiment and investigation. In fact, it is constantly growing, with new knowledge being added from the experiences of tens of thousands of pranic healers around the world.

Pranic healing is based on the overall structure of the human body. The whole human body is actually composed of two parts: the visible physical body, and the invisible energy body, or bioplasmic body . It is within this energy body that prana is metabolised, and thus any healing of the human body must include the healing of the energy body also.

Unlike many traditional healing methods, with pranic healing it is not necessary to practice intensively for years before one becomes a healer. Nor does one need special abilities or spiritual knowledge to learn it. Master Choa Kok Sui, the founder of Pranic Healing, says: Pranic healing "is mechanical in the sense that all one has to do is follow the instructions step-by-step and the predetermined results will follow." "It is as easy as learning to drive." The Pranic Healing courses begin with safe, simple, yet effective methods and gradually take the student to more advanced and powerful techniques. One can heal simple ailments almost from day one, but obviously the speed of healing and the kind of ailments that can be healed effectively will depend on the experience and capacity of the healer.

Pranic Healing is best thought of as a complement to, not replacement for, orthodox medical science. In most cases recovery is faster when both approaches are used together, but conditions that are not curable with modern medical science can often be healed with Pranic Healing.
