Please note that all the gigs listed/reviewed here are only gigs with our current line-up which means since Ben took over on vocals in Decemeber 2001!

Rock Quest Heat 1 - Copper Face Jacks, Norbreck

Also Playing Uncle Fester, The Raymonds, The Transmissions, Spiggot

The 1st gig with Ben at vocals, in the heat we didnt want to get drawn in. With only 1 practise behind us with Ben on vocals this was always going to be tough. It was made harder by being drawn on stage 1st, how do you go about opening Rock Quest 2001? With the knowledge that junk rock legends Uncle Fester were also in our heat wasnt going to put us off. Unfortunatly, we were badly let down by poor sound, the guitars being too low and the drums being too loud. Uncle Fester eventually won the heat, but we had made a name for ourselves and also made some good contacts

Bare - West Coast Rock Cafe, Blackpool

Also Playing Scissor

We were support for Scissor who formed from former band Nexus. Having had more time to practise from our Rock Quest outing, we were eager to try out some new material, in particular Monkey See Monkey Do. We was encouraged on by a supportive crowd, and finished on the almost compulsary ending song of This Is Not An Exit.

Battle Of The Bands - West Coast Rock Cafe, Blackpool

Also Playing Cuzak, The Raymonds, The Sushi Pills

A very enjoyable night at a very busy West Coast Rock Cafe. Being drawn last gave presuming ED plenty of time to assess the other bands on the night. All 3 previous bands put in storming performances, and we knew it would be hard to better any of the previous bands. After a shaky start we soon got into groove, and seemed to blast our way through the alloted 30 minutes. Cheers of "You Rock" were heard as well as loud cheers after old favourite Mr Prozac had been blasted out at 100 m.p.h. Love & Hate created a great response from the people brave enough to jump around in front of the stage. Guitars were thrown into amps on the last song This Is Not An Exit with the feedback from the previous song still ringing loud. As the announcement was made we were not at all dissapointed to hear we hadnt quite made it. In fact we had come 2nd, losing out by 1 point to Cuzak.

Bare - West Coast Rock Cafe, Blackpool

Also Playing Desormais

As far as performances go, this was probably presuming ED's best gig to date. From 1st to last song the beat never dropped. Encouraged by a very loud crowd, the songs just blasted out. Playing a very similia set to the last gig, the songs sounded raw yet tight. Ben's vocals just blasted out, and accompanied by the perfect back line of ade on bass and al on drums the guitars were allowed to be blasted out at ear-hurting decibels. Pictures from this gig can currently be found in the gallery. An enjoyable night was capped off by a great performance by headliners on the night Desormais

Rock Night - West Coast Rock Cafe, Blackpool

Also Playing Neocoma & Kraul

Described in the paper as 3 of Blackpools Heaviest Bands, first band Kraul were certainly determined to prove they are one of the heaviest bands around. Their set was shorter thatn usual due to having a new drummer, but the songs they did play went down really well. Next up was Neocoma. Chopper & co put on a superb set of full out rock, which included a superb cover of The Vines - Get Free. Last song Chumpy Let The Children Go was blasted out, and chopper ended as usual trying to take as many of his own band mates out as possible. A superb set. Going on last was very nervy after having seen the reaction to the previous 2 bands, so thanks to all who made it down to support us. Admittedly the set wasnt the best prepared as we tried playing a lot of new songs for the first time, but there was good reaction to them. With Al's drumming speed at breakneck speed, Ade's bass blasting out and both guitars seemingly set on 11, this was probably presuming ED at their very thrashiest/grungiest. Guitars were kicked, and blood was smeered over 1 guitar caused by playing at such pace, but all in all the 3 bands on the night enjoyed playing to a good sized crowd showing that Rock music is not dead in Blackpool

Rock Showcase Night - Jenx Live @ Insomnia, Blackpool

Also Playing Neocoma & The Stealers

Firstly cheers to everyone who turned up at this gig, and thanks to Jules for putting on the night. Up first was the ever great Neocoma, somehow they made it onto stage despite it being Matt's and Baz's birthday, and put on a great show to warm up the decent sized crowd. Presuming ED went on second and played a similiar set to West Coast, only this time with the inclusion of a cover of Nobody Does It Better which seemed to get a real good reception. Despite suffering slightly from lack of monitors, and vocals being a bit on the low side we seemed to be like by most, and was asked back for another gig on 19th Sept, where we will be playing again with Neocoma, and possibly Lancaster band Forenzic. Mention also to The Stealers who were last on and played a great set, especially considering it was only their second gig, well done lads.

ParkLive/BBC Music Live 2002 - Stanley Park Bandstand, Blackpool

Also Playing The Woodsmen, Neocoma & Uncle Fester

Outdoor gigs in August in Blackpool are never a good idea with the weather we have, and sure enough there was a fair amount of rain, fortunatly the only thing this really affected was the running time, and it did clear up as each band came on. First band The Woodsmen were a last minute call up for a band that cancelled, and were totally different music style, playing cabaret covers...good for the families in the park who gathered, but not for the fans of the other 3 bands. Next up where Neocoma, playing a similiar set to Jenx. Barry said he didnt enjoy it that much, which may of been to do with the guitars losing tuning in the heat, and strings snapping etc, but they went down really well, even if the odd family did disappear, but they certainly entertained the real music listeners. Going on next we had a shortened set due to the times over-running, and only played 6 songs. Again thanks to those who hung around, and our mates who risked the rain to come down. It turned into an enjoyable gig, even if its impossible to read LCD displays on effects pedals when the sun's shining. Cheers also to Damo, Neocoma's roadie who stayed on stage to help with any technical problems we may of had. After the gig we got a lot of interest from other people, including one guy who compared us to smashing pumpkins, I dont know who you was, but you was clued up on your music and that was one hell of a compliment! Next gig at the moment is Jenx on the 19th, which gives us time now to write some more songs, thanks again to all the p:ED fans out there, we love you all!!!
