Ashac :- Traitor to Gorbens father and one of the nine Satraps. Also a lover of boys.

Barden the Slayer :- Grandfather to Druss and great warrior who was corrupted by the demon in the Axe. Was slain before Druss was born and also the man Druss faces on the Bridge to rescue Rowena.

Bodason :- Gorbens loyal General and friend to Druss is slain at Skeln Pass by Druss.

Bress :- Druss's father who wore defeat like a cloak after having to live down Bardan as his father. Pursued everytime he was recognised and fought to save himself and his family. During one of these encounters Druss' mother was slain.

Borcha:- The undesputed Fist Champion of Mashrapur. Trained Druss in unarmed combat.

Calvar Syn :- A Surgeon who treats Druss in Mashrapur.

Collan:- Co-Leader of the band of Slavers who raided Druss' village and took the women is killed by Shadak for the murder of his son.

Cajivak :- A madman who finds Druss' Axe Snaga and is seduced by the demon quickly.

Druss the Legend :- The Silver Slayer, Captain of the Axe and Deathwalker. Fights for what he believes to be good against evil using his simple mountain logic. Dies in Legend at the battle of Dros Delnoch

Darishan :- Silver haired fox of the north and traitorous Satrap. Eskodas :- A Bowman who has a taste for poetry and a fan of Siebens.

Earid Shad :- A Corsair Lord known to his men as the Shark behind his back or Sea Lord to his face.

Gorben :- Emperor of Ventria.

Harib ka :- A Ventrian Slaver who is Collan's partner

Kabuchek :- A Ventrian Merchant who buys Rowena from Collan.

Kalith of Numar:- The Chaos beast, the stalker, the hound of the invincible, whose skin no blade of man shall pierce. Michanek :- The Naashanite emperors champion who marries Rowena after her memory has been wiped even though he knows that a year after he is wed he will die.

Oliquar:- Friend of Druss who was slain by the Kalith on its attack on Gorben camp.

Rowena :- Druss' Wife who is captured by slavers and is known as Pahtai to the Ventrians

Shadak the Hunter :- A man who follows the code of the hero and aids Druss teaching him to follow the way of the hero to prevent him becoming evil.

Sieben :- A womaniser and poet. Druss' friend and dies at the Battle for Skeln Pass Shabag :- Satrap traitor to Gorben

Vintar :- One of "The Thirty" Aids Rowena

My Views

Many readers over the years fell in love with Legend, Mr Gemmell's first novel, and clammered for more tales of Druss.

This book sees the tale of Druss from the beginning and explains how he became the Legend through his long search for his wife Rowena whom had been kidnapped by raiders, also featuring is the bonus add on of the tale of Skeln Pass another thing that many wanted to read.

Although part of the tale is slightly ruined by knowing that there is no way Druss can die (as how else is he going to have made an appearance in Legend) it gives the reader the chance to follow his "career" and explains a certain amount of his background. The First Chronicles of Druss the Legend is definately a book to buy and enjoy giving everyone the chance to see Druss in his nearly immortal, young combat glory searching for his kidnapped wife. A good novel to buy.
