The Hawk Queen Novels

Tales abound throughout the dreams of seers of a decendent of a highland king leading a force from the north to conquer the outlanders. These are the tales of that descendent.

The Hawk Queen books centralise around Sigarni, the last living descendent of Ironhand, the Highland King. In the first we see her rise to power as well as her remembering part of her own history, the night of the slaughter as well as see her develop into the general who will free her people from the Outlanders.

The second book "The Hawk Eternal" sees how Caswallon who starts as a thief, warrior and loner takes over the mantle of leadership to free his people from the aenir (ancestors to the outlanders) We also learn of his part in the rescue of the baby Sigarni and how he aids her in the future when he becomes the last "gatekeeper" after Taliesen dies towards the coming battle. It is into this alternate reality of her own universe that Sigarni arrives to battle the last demon that Jakuta Khan sent after her so many years before.

Although these are the only books in this series it does leave quite a gap for another book to fill, we are left inquiring into how Sigarni won her other battles after her initial Highland campaign through to her last which she wins as an old woman before Gaelen (who features heavily through the second book) takes her through the portal to Caswallons time.
