Oshikai demon-bane :- A Nadir Hero of Legend also uses an Axe. The Druss of his day, a warrior without equal. (Drusses line is probably descended from a Nadir maiden and a son of Mirriels (Waylanders adopted Daughter) and Angel so perhaps he is of the blood of Oshikai (?) Mirriel had another son with Senta ((A good looking lad(see Waylander II))
Quing-chin :- Known as Dalsh-Chin he is cool, collected and deadly, also a Janizary.
Shaoshad :- One of the makers of the eyes of Alchazzar and also the one who stole them. Shul-sen :- Oshikai Demon-Banes wife. Said to be the first queen of the Nadir and therefore the mother of them. She was a sorceress of great power kept in torment by Chakata who drove nails of gold into her eyes, ears, mouth. Sieben frees her and it is Shul-sen who asks Druss to accompany Oshikai to free her spirit from Girghast.
Sieben the Saga Master :- Drusses friend who accompanies him on many of his journeys. It is Sieben who find the Eyes and uses them on the defenders. A good man with a knife and very curious.
Talisman :- Leader of the united tribes at Oshikai's Tomb due to having an unequalled understanding of Gothir tactics and strategy. This he gained as a student at the Gothir academy as a Janizary along with his friends. He was the only one to graduate of the initial Janizary's. He longs to see the days of the Uniter and to serve under him and to see the "Eyes" returned to the land. Also known as Okai and later when he claims his manhood name as Ulric.
Zhusai :- Talismans love in the novel and granddaughter of Chorin-Tsu the Gothir Embalmer. As a child she was known as Voni (Chittering Rat in Chiatze, Windy Goat in Nadir.) Also shares her body with Shul-Sen, Oshikai's wife and first queen of the Nadir.
My Views
Druss returns explaining to a dying conscript the tale of his earlier life when he joined the fellowship games after "accidently" smashing the Drenai Champions jaw to shards.
Here Druss aids the nadir in the defence of their holy shrine of Oshikai, the "father" of the Nadir nation, also the man who lead them out of Chiatze and fought many battles for thier freedom.
Drusses aid was given after a fighter was injured and he promised to return with Magic gems that would heal him after being taunted by a nadir shaman (who incidently caused the injury to Clay.)
Here we also see a part of Drusses past come back to him, by naming Angel and Mirriel as his ancestors, a vital thing that many think has been missing throughout the books a link to tie the character to the lands and something that many thought was essential.
For me however it is a novel worthy of the price due to the fact that not only do we get the chance to hear the tale of Drusses mighty deeds as well as hear his history but we also get the chance to hear a bit more about the first uniter, Ulric.
