Almost a year ago a number of
youth centre members decided to
start a band. Nothing new in that. But, with no instruments it was going to
be a tough call. Not to be put off, they appealed to trust funds looking for
funds to purchase the instruments required. With the help of the
Jim Muir Trust, Ponton House and the Sir James Millar Trust
a Drum Kit, Bass Guitar, Amps, PA System and Mics added to
some personal instruments owned by the band members, and they
had the basic requirements to start rehearsals. Dedicated and enthusiastic,
they spent many hours fine-tuning their performance. On Saturday 9 April
they were ready for their first live gig. With the aid of Pilrig St Paul's
Church,
who generously offered the use of the church hall and stage, with lighting,
the show went ahead. Playing to a live audience of forty-four music lovers
can't be easy...but they silenced any critics and came up with a solid
performance. The Saturday afternoon gig ran to 20 song's,
19 covers and one self-penned number.
Numbers covered were by Maroon 5, The Undertones etc....
What a great way to start the new year.
A gang of local lunatics
who were released from the Asylum for the festive holiday's
used the Arts and Crafts lessons learned at the PYC and
decided to give the centre and the adjoining church building
a festive make-over. We think the deed was done on Monday
the 27 December as this was the night of the Full Moon!
They didn't stop there. They also defaced
a parked Caravan and added their Asylum's Corporate Logo
to local walls. We know who they are. They know that we know
who they are, and that the Police now, also know who they are!
The knock on their door will come shortly
An exhibition of their craftmanship can be found below......

The Board of Directors at PYC and the Staff (who will have to clear it up
and repaint) would
like to wish DAVE =B=, BLAKE and CRAIG and the rest of the Loony Crew a Happy
New Year.
The local constabulary will thankfully pass on our regards for us.
