DONATION (1) - The
youth centre have been awarded £4000+ from the Big Lottery Fund
'Awards for All'. The funding will allow the centre to run a 26 week
sporting activity programme aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles for
local children aged 7 - 14 years.

DONATION (2) - The
youth centre has successfully been awarded £2000+ funding from the
City of Edinburgh 'Local Iniative Fund' to allow the centre to
purchase a variety of recreational and storage equipment to assist
with the success of the youth centre's three new sports sections, and
to supoort the existing youth club programme.

PYC SPORTS CLUB - The
youth centre will begin an exciting new initiative aimed at local
children aged 7 - 14 years. A new Pilmeny Sports club will run for 26
weeks throughout 2006 and will assist with encouraging members to
participate in "Alternative and Minority sports" With the emphasis on
fitness and healthy lifestyles children in the local community can
look forward to a wealth of sporting and dance/fitness opportunities.
Two sports section will take place on alternate Tuesday's and
Wednesday's after school and Thursday evening's at the Pilmeny Youth
Centre. Places are limited so its advisable to get in touch quickly.

PYC JOINS CYP
SCOTLAND - The youth centre recently affiliated to CYP
Scotland, formerly known as Boys & Girls' Clubs of Scotland.
Affiliation will allow the centre members to partcipate in a number of
activities facilitated by CYP Scotland.

NEW EQUIPMENT
- From March 2006 the centre will have
taken delivery of 2 new Playstation 2's and a variety of games. We'll
also have a new 28" flatscreen TV, VIDEO & DVD Player. A state of the
art Disco unit and lighting system will also be in place for the
weekend parties and fundraising socials. Secure Storage/Seating
systems will be built in the centre art room, and two storage bunkers
situated in the main hall. The purchase of this equipment was provided
by a grant awarded to the centre from the City of Edinburgh Council,
'Local Initiative Fund'.

SHOW RACISM THE RED CARD
2006 -
The Youth Centre in partnership with Redpath Albion
BC teamed up to facilitate a second SRTRC
event in October 2006. Educational input will be provided by
Citadel Youth Centre and Sikh Sanjog, and Leith Youth Workers Forum.

BOARD NEWS -
The next Board meeting will be held on Monday 4 December 2006 @
3.30pm.

PROJECT NEWS - The Board of Directors
have joined forces with local organisations' "Out of the Blue",
a local
arts project, and the Pilmeny Development Project to campaign for the
redevelopment of the Dalmeny Street play park and adjacent
Bowling Green. In July 2006 the Friends of Dalmeny Street Park were
awarded a grant of £30,000 from the the Leith Area Board. This initial
funding will be used to upgrade the green sites of the park. A further
£50,000 has been set-aside to upgrade the playpark area over the next
three years. A design planning meeting was held on 27 September at OOTB Hall.
Design plans are now with the CEC Parks Services Officials and will be
drawn up and ready for view by the end of the year.

PYC REPORTS - The
centre's Development Plan for 2007 - 2010 will be finalised and ready for circulation
from mid-January 2007. Client groups
requiring a copy can either obtain this in brochure form or via a CD
Rom (available from the office)

Groups have now been issued with the
centre's updated Health and Safety policy. Included in the policy is a
concentrated risk assessment. (available from the office)

All centre policies
Racial/Employment/Equalities etc are now available in CD format. Any
client group requiring copies are asked to pay a small fee to cover
the cost of this medium before obtaining a copy. (available from the
