RACHAEL AND DAVE'S HOLIDAY 2003

After a quick chat with our friendly travel agent, we decided to take this year's holiday on the Costa del Sol in Spain. Our chosen destination was a small town called Nerja, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Although still a tourist destination, this part of the Costa del Sol is quieter and retains a more Spanish atmosphere.

We flew on Thursday 13th November from East Midlands airport, and landed 2 1/2 hours later in Malaga. Our transfer to Nerja took just over an hour. We finally reached our hotel (Club Nerja) around 9.30pm. The flight itself was uneventful, but as we were flying late afternoon, we passed through the sunset, which was quite spectacular.

Club Nerja is set about 1.5km from the heart of Nerja, meaning that it is away from the hustle and bustle of the centre, but close enough for relaxing strolls down to the beach and to the cafes and bars that inhabit the coastline.

Our first impressions of the hotel room was that it was very GREEN.

Our first day (Friday) was spent exploring the town and generally recovering from the journey. We found a few beaches, and then moved on to the BALCON de EUROPA - described in the holiday brochure as

'... the spectacular clifftop headland lined with palm trees... the focal point of the resort.'

Time to find a drink... :)

The afternoon was spent lazing around the pool, and just totally relaxing.

On Sunday, we headed down into Nerja again, in the first instance to watch the England - France rugby match, and then to continue our explorations.

On to Gibraltar...

Go home...
