A book for shoeheads (and you don't need to be an athlete [basketball player, perhaps] to be one, BUT, as reknowned coach Bill Bowerman said: "If you have a body, you are an athlete."). The book by "Snoop" Jackson relates thirty years of Nike Basketball: the shoes, the athletes (Jordan!!), shoe designers, famous ads, culture. 200 plus pages of 'em. 2 years of availability but I have yet to get a hold of one. Maybe someone will let me..
IPod Nano -
The high technology and style need not be enemies. MP3 player, 2.5 inches thick, a choice of 2 or 4 GB of flash memory storage (to use as something like a hard disk or high-capacity floppy), 1.5" picture viewer, 14-hour playing time. 2GB version costs $199; the 4GB one costs $249. I'd starve myself for this one (just kidding; I don't need to).
Nike Free -
This is NOT your ordinary kind of training shoe. When worn, it'd feel like you're going barefoot on
grass. Barefoot means that your feet can move freely and naturally when in motion. This strengthens
the muscles of your lower limbs, which make you stronger. Add a little bit of support to avoid injury,
and you'd have a perfect shoe for increasing your performance.
Lego Mindstorms -
The 'toy' package for the techie. It's not just a toy, it's a robotics kit, released by the maker of the
Toy of the Century, Lego. The package has hundreds of parts including building blocks, motors, and sensors
(robot 'senses'), wheels (robot 'feet'). It also has a microprocessor which acts as the brain. A manual and
CD is included with building instructions and programming guides. The fun way to creating your hi-tech army!
