M2M Biography(written by Marion Raven)
It was the spring of 1989
Me and my family had just moved to a new place in Lorenskog and I didn't know any other kids there.
Marit and a friend were in the woods near our house picking flowers.
My mom saw them, and asked if they would play with me
That was the start of our friendship
We quikly became best friends and started doing lots of things together.
We both had a common interest of music, theater, song and dance.
We performed a lot in school, and started a band called "Hubba Bubba"
With the band we toured kindergardens, singing and dancing.
In 1993 we both were a part of the musical "Sound of Music", in 1994 we did "Bugsy Malone" and in 1995 "The Wizard of Oz".
All played on "the Norwegian Broadway".
Besides performing in musicals and having
a band, we did voices for cartoons and singing on many different children records.
Marit and I were discovered, and we got the opportunity to make our own record.
We used old children songs and made them new by using more modern music and
upbeat tempo.
We did lots of TV shows and were nominated for "Best children record
of the year"of the Norwegian Grammys.
By then we had become 12 and 13 years old
When it was talk about making a new record, we felt we were too old to sing
children songs
People in the record business started writing pop songs for us.
We made demos, but many of the songs were just to "grown up" for us.
Thats how Marit and I became interested in songwriting.
We sounded so much better singing our own words,
about our thoughts and experiences.
One day,working in the studio,
a swedish manager for bands heard our music.
He thought it was great, took our demos to
New York, and started playing them around for music corporations
Atlantic Records were
interested
We traveled overseas and had to show them what we had.
With only a guitar and our voices we performed for all the "big bosses" of Atlantic Records.
I still remember the amazing feeling, a summer day in 1998, when it was final.
We were signed to Atlantic and had a recording contract!
As M2M, Marion to Marit, we travelled
around the world working with some of the best songwriters and producers in the
business.It was the best music school we could have had.
In the spring of 1999
"Shades of Purple" was done.
"Don't say you love me" was a hit in many countries
, as well as "Mirror Mirror".
Our record received great reviews all over
the world and sold over 1.5 million copies.
I am very proud of what we have achieved
as M2M.
I love travelling and meeting all you fans out there. Thank you so
much for your support!
It's been a while since M2M has been out there, but we're
on our way back.
Our new album "The Big Room" is done and waiting to be released
So now it's up to you fans! Hope you still like M2M and our music.
I'm just so happy we're able to do what we love,
having fun and making music!
