Holidays in North Norfolk

We offer quality Bed and Breakfast accommodation in a purpose built annexe to our own home in the delightful village of Blakeney, on the North Norfolk Coast. We also have, for the more independent, a lovely Summerhouse with all conveniences situated in our garden.

Blakeney

Once a thriving harbour and fishing village, Blakeney, situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is now a favourite destination for birdwatchers, walkers, boating enthusiasts and those who just want to “Get away from it all."

White Barn Annexes

Built onto our house in 1998, these rooms each give comfortable en suite accommodation for two people. There is a choice of king sized or twin beds, and the units have their own external doors so that guests may come and go as they please. One room is larger than the other, and so the rooms are priced individually.

The Summerhouse has all the same facilities, but is an independent timber building in the garden.

Naturally, we have a food hygiene certificate, and we believe our breakfasts are second to none.

There is ample parking for cars, dinghy trailer, etc., and we are just a few minutes walk from the quay, shops restaurants and pubs. Our accommodation is not suitable for pets or children, sorry.

Rates are from £28.50 per person/ night for the smaller room, and £32.50 per person/night for the larger room or the Summerhouse, both of which are more suited for longer stays.

Each room has television; tea/ coffee/ biscuits, and we can offer baggage pickup service for Coastal Path walkers.

Sadly, unless you are genuinely walking the Coastal Path or cycling around the county, we can no longer offer one night stays, but we do give some reductions for stays of four nights or more.

Payment is due at the end of your stay: either cheque or cash as we are a small business and are unable to take credit or debit cards.

About us:

Lizzie and Graeme are the new generation of the family, and Wendy and I are the (slightly!!) older generation. Lizzie enjoys sailing her Laser in a gale, and is a qualified sailing instructor. Graeme also sails a Laser, but as well as that he zooms around the harbour in an Avon.

We are a family of four vegetarians, but don't let that worry you, we are happy to cook sausages and bacon in Full English breakfasts. We can serve Cley Smokehouse kippers, which are allegedly the best in the world. We do draw the line at Black Pudding though!

We are heavily into messing about in boats, especially Swallows and Amazons type exploring of creeks and marshes for Wendy and I. Various family members like gardening, flying model aeroplanes, Reiki healing and other hobbies. Wendy and I are runners and we enter various races which we never win.

The House:

It was built by local builders from a book of plans in 1959/ 60. We bought it in 1997, and have, as we could afford it, replaced doors and windows and have insulated as much as possible. We have solar water heating which is a godsend in Summer months, but we are still stuck with oil for hot water and heating during the cooler months.

When the back annexe and summerhouse were built, the work was done by the son of the original builder. Later in 1998 the attached garage was converted into a small double or single room. We try to improve the accommodation each year, and those of you who are regular guests sometimes notice, sometimes don't! Oh, well.......

Our Favourite Guests are people who are happy to enjoy the countryside and who tread lightly on the environment. We especially like people who don't leave the bathroom like an ocean, and who don't leave taps on all night. We try as far as we can to cater for special diets or allergies or other problems, but it has to be said, we do occasionally mess things up! We do like to have a bit of contact at the time of booking, whether it's by person, phone, or email. For that reason and through lessons learned we don't take bookings for third parties.

Come and stay with us. We think you'll like it.
