Cricketers 2-5 Real Gate Real Gate got their second victory of the week and moved up to 6th in the league with a comfortable win over a much improved Cricketers team. It was only a couple of weeks ago when these 2 teams met in a friendly and it saw Real Gate come out with an easy 17-0 win. Cricketers came into the game full of confidence after beating OCS on Tuesday 6-2 to record their first victory of the season whilst Real Gate also went in the game full of confidence after beating Orange House 4-1. Gate were without Oakes (Liverpool), Ste Maz (Egypt), Paul Barrow (leaving for holiday), Hudson (Retired) and many others for this match leaving them with just 2 subs. Gate started off confidently and took the lead when Gaz Maziere nodded home. Cricketers came back almost instantly when they broke into the left hand side of the box and put the ball home from 7 yards. Gate went back down the other end and quickly restored their lead, someone scoring! The cricketers had the chance to pull themselves level again when Andy Kenny was penalised for a push in the box, the ref awarded a penalty. Schonewille maintained his 100% record of saving penalties by diving to his left and saved the rebound too. It was a comfortable win in the end and Gate should have had more goals but were giving away too many free kicks for pushing, the referee believing that football is a completely non-contact sport.
Goals: Gaz Maziere(2), Matt Pape, Lee Barrow, Ste Marsh Refs MOTM: Spike |
