You will be studying five modules this year. They are:

bulletQuestions and Beginnings
bulletFestivals of Light
bulletSymbols
bulletFounders
bulletBeing a Christian

What are these modules about?

bulletQuestions and Beginnings: This module introduces you to some special ways in which people who belong to a religion express their beliefs. You will discover the special use of narrative and story. You will also have an opportunity to investigate some special beliefs people have about the world in which they live and about God.
bulletFestivals of Light: At this time of year many religions have lovely colourful festivals. You will be finding out why and looking at special times in three religions, Hinduism and Divali, Judaism and Hanukkah, Christians and Advent/Christmas.
bulletSymbols: Some religious ideas are very complicated, so religions often use symbols to represent very difficult concepts and ideas. In the spring term you will be finding out about some important religious festivals.
bulletFounders: Many religions begin with a founder, a special person who starts a religion. You will find out about the founders for at least three of the world's main religions in this module.
bulletBeing a Christian: This module lasts for a whole term and your homework time will be spent producing an independent study on the Life of Jesus.

Select a myth, and find out how various cultures have explained the origins of life and of the planet! Remember that a myth is a story with a meaning. A myth may be fictitious or based on fact!
