Repertoire

The repertoire of the Regent String Quartet can be grouped into four separate categories:

  • Traditional Classics, 
  • Operatic Arias,
  • Lighter Classics, and
  • Jazz & Popular Music. 

The lists below provide examples from each category however our full repertoire list is much more comprehensive.  If you would like a full repertoire list please request one using the contact details on the fees & contact details page.




Lighter Classics
The lighter classics selection includes popular classical music, which may be used in television or in films. These include the following:
Tchaikovsky –  Dances from the Nutcracker 
Dvorak – Slavonic dances
Grieg – Last Spring & various others
Bernstein – Maria
Offenbach – Barcarolle
Capua – O Sole Mio


Jazz & popular music

This last selection includes Jazz music and pop/modern music. These include the following:
Joplin – The Entertainer 
Donaldson – Makin’ Whoopee
Kern – Smoke gets in your eyes
Porter – Anything Goes
Gay – Leaning on a Lamppost

Traditional Classics
 
Our traditional classics suit formal occasions including wedding receptions, corporate entertainment and garden parties. These include:
Vivaldi - the Four Seasons
Mozart – Divertimento & early string quartets
Bach – Brandenburg Concerto & Air on a G String
Handel – Arrival of the Queen of Sheba
Pachelbel – Kanon in D Major
Purcell – Rondeaux from the Fairy Queen



Operatic arias
As the title suggests the quartet has a range of operatic repertoire including many of the famous arias as follows:
Delibes – Flower duet
Puccini - Quando me’n vo’ from La Boheme
Mascagni – Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana
Mozart – Arias from the Marriage of Figaro
Rossini – Arias from the Barber of Seville
