The Realm of Shadows has closed
I regret to inform everone that the board is now closed.
We've all shared some very fun, and retarded times on it.
From the forum errors and ugly banners, to the hackers and complete newbs.
The Realm of Shadows was a great site, and maybe one day it will reopen again. But that's looking far into the future, well beyond your or my reach.
You can still read old news, (Don't know why you'd want to.)
and chat with Li Mei.
But besides that, the site is closed. The forums, pages, downloads, ect have all been deactivated.
If you'd like a new, and great Mortal Kombat Kommuity to go to, please vist:
http://www.testyourmight.com (MKRoK)
Thank you, and long live the Shadows of the past.

New Mortal Kombat 6 Info!
Posted by reptile329 on Tuesday, May 27 @ 21:37:06 CEST (46 reads) |

MK6 will use an improved version of the MK:DA engine; there will not be a complete rewrite.
The next installment of Mortal Kombat will feature more platform-specific code. Each version of MK6 will use the same engine, but it will be tweaked to use the strengths of each specific console. The focus will be more on pushing each system to its limit, as opposed to trying to keep all 3 versions of the game as close to each other as possible.
The backgrounds will be much more interactive than anything we've seen yet. When asked about background items that could impale you, Ed assured us, "That's only the beginning."
Multiple fatalities are an extreme definite.
An online component is confirmed, and will play a major role in the game.
The game, which is currently referred to as "MK6", has not yet been officially named. Chances are, however, that the final name will include a subtitle like Deadly Alliance and Tournament Edition, and not the number 6. MK5.ORG will follow the development of Mortal Kombat 6 straight to its completion, which is reported to be released sometime in 2004.

Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition gets an official website.

shadow_kick writes "The newest addition to the handful of Mortal Kombat titles available on various consoles, MK: Tournament Edition, was given its own website which formed in the informational depths of the Internet. The official site gives some basic information over the game such as its ERSB rating, as well as a look at the official box art that will be greeting the eyes of hundreds of thirsty gamers as they pour into the stores ready to obtain their next Mortal Kombat fix. Included on the website was also some information over the game itself, such as its new practice modes, a listing of new arenas, and of course the announcement of the inclusion of Sareena and a couple of hidden characters. Video for the game is not yet available on the site, but in the near future we can be sure that Midway will give us all a motion picture view of the game as soon as possible. Screenshots for the game are up as well, but most of the information at the site was already confirmed and discussed at Pocket IGN earlier last week. The site did have one exclusive bit of information for the avid fans of both the Mortal Kombat realm itself, and hand held fighters alike. Below is the official biography for the GBA exclusive character, Sareena:
The Netherealm demon, Sareena, lost her human form in an attack from the fallen Elder God, Shinnok. She was transposed back into her demon form as her essence descended back to the 5th plane of the Netherealm. Sareena remained there until she discovered an abandoned portal that led to Outworld. Once in Outworld, she learned to feed off of the living aura of that realm to regain her human appearance. She no longer needed Quan Chi’s sorcery to sustain her exterior beauty.
While in Outworld, the demon known as Sareena encountered Sub-Zero. Since she had freed his brother from his confines of the Netherealm so many years ago, Sub-Zero offered her asylum within the Lin Kuei. His compassion may be honorable, but befriending a demon of Netherealm is not an action without risk... as Sub-Zero may soon discover.
With so many features, anyone in their right mind, and of course a GameBoy Advance, will be sure to pick up the latest MK title only to be blown away by its amazing features, and obvious advancement from the first GBA MK title that was considered a flop by most gamer opinions, Mortal Kombat Advance.

shadow_kick writes "Originally titled Mortal Kombat Deadly Revenge, the newest release in the Mortal Kombat realm under the subtitle, Tournament Edition, will make its way to the Nintendo GameBoy Advance in the very near future. Pocket IGN, a popular video game information site with great sources in Midway released some descriptive details over the next MK installment today. In the information, a complete roster for the new game was released, and the characters are:
Cyrax
Drahmin
Hsu Hao
Johnny Cage
Mavado
Raiden
Reptile
Bo Rai Cho
Nitara
Scorpion
Shang Tsung
Quan Chi
Sareena new
2 Hidden Characters to also be announced.
The game is said to be nothing more than an advanced version of the overwhelming Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance released last year for the GameBoy Advance, but an addition to a game of such stellar performance is enough to make this quite possibly the best hand held fighter on the market. New stages have also been announced including the Lost Tomb, Wu Shi Academy, Sarna Ruins, and Moloch’s Lair all of which were previously withheld from the GBA release. It will also have different gameplay modes, including Race to Raiden, Tag Team mode, and four player tournaments. Of course Arcade and COOP mode will be included, and in addition to all of these new features, it will be reverse compatible with Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance (GBA). For the complete review over the next installment of MK, just check out the article at http://pocket.ign.com/articles/401/401573p1.html?fromint=1&submit.x=62&submit.y=10. Online Play for Mortal Kombat VI is a Yes, Everything Else is in the Shadows
Posted by reptile329 on Saturday, May 10 @ 05:42:28 CEST (67 reads) |

shadow_kick writes "With Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance still grabbing the hearts of gore-driven gamers thirsty for power, effective storyline, and the other essentials of a fascinating fighting game, Ed Boon has already announced some vague information over Mortal Kombat VI. As stated in the May 2003 (issue 71) of PSM magazine, the game will not be an improved version of Deadly Alliance, rather a completely renovated foundation upon which the producers can build upon to keep the diversity of the newer Mortal Kombat titles in balance. Boon continued to state in the article that the release for, temporarily named, Mortal Kombat VI could possibly be released as early as 2004. IGN states that their sources confirmed the online playing capabilities of the new Mortal Kombat title for the Playstation 2 version, as well as the other consoles. Any other information on the next release for Mortal Kombat is probably going to be in the more distant future, and the fans of the series can only wait and anticipate the newest installment of the ever growing fighting series that has more than once shocked the gaming world.

David F. Zucker takes the reigns for Midway (5-8-03) by shadow_kick
Posted by reptile329 on Friday, May 09 @ 17:24:42 CEST (42 reads) |

A recent press release from Midway Games Inc.
announced that David F. Zucker, 40,would be the new chief executive officer and president.Former chief executive officer and president of Midway Games Inc, Neil D. Nicrasto, will continue to be a working force behind the wheels of production at Midway Games as chairman of the board of directors, as well as serving a role as a guardian of Midway to ensure a smooth transaction. David F. Zucker's history in management in the entertainment world is quite decorated. Zucker was recently serving as president and chief operating officer of Playboy Enterprises where he was an overseer of day-to-day operations. Before joining Playboy in May of 2002, Zucker was serving as a managing director for Walker Digital LLC. His knowledge of leading the pack of various companies is far from fresh. In addition to heading Playboy Enterprises' day-to-day orders, he served as president and chief executive of Diva Systems Corporation. His most long term occupation was carried out with Walt Disney where he spent 11 years mainly at their ESPN division where he was executive vice president spending the majority of his time watching over the launching of ESPN2 and the X Games. His educational status is quite high as well, for he earned an MBA at Harvard, and graduated magna cum laude from Princeton. With Zucker holding the reigns, the fear of Midway falling from the thresholds of the entertainment industry seem slight, for his experience is all but amazing. His vast experience, intelligence, and overall understanding of the entertainment industry could possibly open new doorways for Midway, and with more opportunities, the possibilities at Midway could skyrocket.
