T’was the week before Christmas
And here at our house
Lots of things were unfinished
By me and my spouse
Glenda dug through the attic
And put up the tree
While I shouted directions
And watched the TV
Glenda went shopping
Then came home and wrapped
Watching made me so tired
I laid down and napped
Glenda went for groceries
She’s planned a big meal
I asked “Are the cards out?”
She said “Here’s the deal!”
“If you want cards sent
To family or friends
Then here are the cards
Envelopes, stamps and pens.”
“And while you are at it
Please tell them” she said
“Happy Holidays from me”
And she stalked off to bed.
I guess when she asked me
“Please get down the meat platter”
I shouldn’t have said “No,
But I’ll get you the ladder.”
