A
Brief Overview of Gunz Online
Released to the public in English on the 2nd
June 2005, Gunz Online is a 3rd person online game where you can
compete against others in gun/sword/dagger fights. Think somewhere
along the lines of the Matrix, Star Wars and the PC game, Max Payne.
This is an online game where you can perform
quick dash, dive manuevers, wall running and flipping. However,
there is NO BULLET TIME. (AKA, slooooow motion camera)
In this Free to Play (F2P) game which is currently
being developed by a Korean Company, "MAIET", you create
a hero/heroine in the game and then join the battle in user created
rooms. Ping connection on rooms depend on location. So if you are
in the USA and host a room, and someone joins from... lets say...Australia
>.< (Me), then there will be very high lag between the two
and shooting down each other will be quite difficult due to lag.
So please, if your
lag is very high like in the 400s, please leave the room =(
Maximum number of players you can duel with
is 16, minimum is 4.
Anyways, if you find a room with good connection
players, you will spawn on the map and you try to survive by shooting/slashing
the opponent until they run out of health. Exp and bounty (which
is currency in the game) are earned when you succesfully kill your
opponents. You can earn more money and exp by trying to live as
long as you can and kill as many before you get shot down. As you
level up and earn money, you can buy clothes and different weapons.
Some people would love the shotgun, while some would want to go
for the dual revolvers style. Some may go for the long range sniping
with the more accurate rifle. You can equip two weapons, a melee
weapon and two accessory weapons.
There are also different types of matches.
Most common would be deathmatch solo, which is basically Free for
all. The other matches are gladiator, where swords are only allowed
and assassin, where one player becomes a VIP and killing him would
get more exp and money than the usual. There are also team deathmatches
as well.
For now, this is beta which precedes the Korean
version, so there is no NPC quests or headgear or the new fancy
clothes you might have seen in the official trailer... yet. So expect
everyone to look kinda alike for now.
Classes doesn't really matter. Except that
for now, I reckon that the hero type, Travia Gun Fighter is the
most powerful to begin with. This class starts off with dual SMGs
which are deals good damage for medium to close quarter combat.
This class also comes along with two grenades! Newbies are suggested
to use this character type first.
Very new users are suggested to create a room
privately and practise moving around and shooting in the game before
going against others. It would probably take 10 - 15 minutes.
Finally, when this online game was released
on June 2, 2005, it was already gaining mass popularity within a
few days, which surprised the Korean developers, and prompted them
to get another server. News from onRPG.com said that 15,000 players
were trying to get into their server, where the suspected server
limit is 1000. Because of this, some people leave their character
logged into a server when they go afk, thus, preventing other players
to play due to server limit. If 1000 players per server do this,
no one can get into that server.
*Update* On the 9th of June, a 2nd server
was added. Players would have download a patch or redownload the
whole client to get in.
P.S: Port server inbound to clien used is
7700 and I think the outbound port to server is 6000 So just open
ports 7700 and 6000.
