Yes magic, the power of the Gods on the world, mighty Sourcerers drawing power from the chaos energies of the universe. Psionicists who master the powers of the mind and Druids who wander the woods in search of large clumps of moss. (hmm).

Hows it work then?

Basically, anyone on Vaklam can harness some form of magical power, obviously it is harder for Captain Kill the Warrior to master the power of the elements then it is for Elbowjuice the Sourcerer but everyone can do it. A character buys certain amount of power points and then gains access to that type of magic and it's spells. Then they can cast away to their hearts content, harming, healing, blowing up stuff and making pigs fly.

A character when they have purchased power points, as I have said, can casts spells. They cannot cast spells above the current level of power points that they have: For example Power Points are bought in blocks of Five, spells have a certain power point tag attached to them such as a Fire Dart at 4PP. When casting Spells the caharcter must intone a number of words equal to the power point level of the spell. They can make these words up but they must sound good: They can't just say "Mumbley Mumbley", it won't work, no God is going to grant divine favour to a character who venerates their name by saying "Mumbley!".

You Keep saying types of magic. What are the types?

Glad you asked. There are four basic types of magic in Vaklam. I will explain these types of magic. Now.

Focus

God Magic. 'nuff said. Okay I'll explain further. Focus magic comes from the high up beings that we would consider to be divine. There are Nine major Gods in the heavens and various demi-gods collectively known as angels. Each deity provides its own specific spell list depending on their portfolio. There are three Gods of each pantheon (Good, Neutral and Evil), each God deals with their own portfolio and their Priests, ley or otherwise, go about the world spreading the word of their illustrious benefactor and doing deeds in their name.

Source

Wizard Magic. Source magic comes direct from a mysterious comet that crashed on one of the Northern continents of Vaklam some milenia ago. It is the essence of chaos and provides Sourcerers with the ability manipulate and change reality around them. As well as your basic Sourcerer there are Elementalists who have learned to manipulate the very powers of, well the elementals.

Nature

Druidic Magic. The power of the Earth Goddess herself. To be in harmony with the living planet and assist it in growth and development. Nature Users worship one of the three aspects of the Earth: Defence, Harmony, aggression. Their power is drawn from all living things and they are fearsome to behold.

Psionic

Mind Magic. Psionics is the only form of magic that does not require verbals to utilise, although a psionicist character has a much reduced Power point limit. There are four types of Psionic character: The Healer who heals stuff, The Manipulator who has power over their body, The Claivoyant who has the power to glimpse the future and read others minds and The See who has general abilities relating to the mind and specialises in no field.
