Gothika will be on cinema screens around the UK from the 12th March 2004 according to the official website I will notify you all on any changes.

The Guardian's tv guide has two interviews on The Singing Detective this week, one from Mel Gibson, & one from Robert Downey Jr. as well as having our handsom star on the front cover!

The singing Detective will be out in cinemas around the U.K from Friday 14th November 2003

The film Gothica will be released in America on November 21st. We will have to wait to find out if, and when it will be shown in the U.K

Chloe Sevigny, and Chiwetel Ejiofor are apparently joining the cast of the upcoming Woody Allen movie along with Radha Mitchell who may replace Winona Ryder, and Robert Downey Jr. - Hollywood Reporter

Fox Searchlight are distributing a new Woody Allen Film which Robert Downey Jr. is in talks to star in alongside Wynona Ryder.  The title, script, and plot are being kept secret, and filming is set to begin this Autumn - Variety

A more extensive website about TSD will be uploaded by October 1st according to Paramount Classics which will include the storyline, bios of the cast, reviews, and a release schedule city by city. The trailer will be available on the website in 5 weeks

Author Jim McManus has sold the film rights to "Positively Fifth Street." his best-selling novel. Robert Downey Jr. may be in this new film playing McManus, the poet and magazine writer who came to Las Vegas to cover Binion's World Series of Poker ending up a champion poker player in his own right. The deal, brokered by ICM agent Sloan Harris went for a reported six figure sum. – The Las Vegas Sun

On March 20th Bel-Air, Vanity Fair and Guess hosted the second Annual Night to benefit chrysalis an organisation which helps individuals facing poverty in the Los Angeles area. Starting June 16th, consumers had the chance to bid for one off jackets designed by  celebrities such as Rebecca Gayheart, Ming Ha and Robert Downey Jr. on Ebay. Downey's jacket sold for $745 nearly £400 much more than the other star jackets up for auction. All sales proceeds went towards Chrysalis. - Vanity Fair

Fox Searchlab has presented the online premiere of “Whatever We Do” under the debut direction of actor Kevin Connoll. Selected for showing at the Sundance Festival, the short film features many A-list stars including actors Zooey Deschanel, Robert Downey Jr., Amanda Peet and Tim Roth. Produced by Tobey Maguire and written by Nick Cassavetes. The video is available in Quicktime format and currently requires a high-speed Internet connection.

Robert Downey Jr. will be starring in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. He plays the lead charicter as an adult, looking back over his life and, is co-producing it with Trudie Styler's Xingu Films. The film is about a boy growing up in New York during the 1980s. His friends end up on drugs, in prison, or dead, and he starts to believe saints have saved him from bad luck. It is an adaptation of Dito Montiel's autobiography that will be directed by him from his own script. Shooting should begin in October, and is set to cost around $ 2.5 million (almost 2million pounds) Variety.com

Robert Downey Jr was number 62 in last nights top 100 movie stars.
They showed snippits of him in chaplin mainly, but unfortunatly ruined it by concentrating on his run ins with the law, and his drug addiction rather than his incredible acting ability

Extra featured an interview with Halle Berry on Saturday Halle explained that she had to miss the premiere of x-men 2 because she was filming Gothica with Penelope Cruz and Robert Downey, Jr. Berry said "Tom Cruise had not visited the set yet, and that Downey is back on his A-game, He's great. He's feeling great. He's such a good actor. He's smart and he's well."

The Montreal Children's hospital recently held a fundraiser, Where an auction was held. The highest bid was for an autographed baseball hat from Robert Downey Jr along with one by Halle Berry and a walk on to the Gothica movie set were sold for
$2,100 (aprox) £1,000

Some Bad News
Robert Downey Jr is not in the film "Man on Fire." Luis Reyes, the production's publicist, stated. “Yes, there are two spots missing in the cast, and they are not for Andy Garcia nor Robert Downey Jr. as previously mentioned. They were both offered the roles, but had to turn down due to scheduling conflicts.” - The Latin Film Network (Spanix)

"Oz" co-star John Palumbo has a part in "All For Nothing," A film based on 1970's jewel thief Walter Shaw, and his life as a "Dinnertime Bandit" stealing from the rich people in Florida in the 70's. This is the biggest film role Palumbo's had. Producers have asked Robert Downey Jr. to join the cast. - The New York Post

Gothika's Official Release Date is October 24 2003 - Variety
"The Singing Detective" will also be released on that day in New York and Los Angeles, and expanding to other cities later on. Hopefully us Brits will get the chance to see the the film too.

Robert Downey Jr.'s career is back on track, with plenty of projects for 2003, now including supernatural thriller Gothika to the list. He will be playing a psychaitrist, and starring opposite Halle Berry, and Penelope Cruz. Filming begins this April in Montreal, Canada - Hollywood Reporter.
