Chartattack 'Amen see Slayer & strippers in Vancouver' - 22 Febuary 2001

ChartAttack used some devious methods to obtain the cell number for loud rock act Amen's tour manager Bill Fold. We decided to put it to good use and when we phoned him the band was traveling to Edmonton. Being the nice guy that he is he threw guitarist Paul Fig on the phone to chat with us.

Besides admiring the view of the snow and the mountains from the front of the tour bus Fig reminisced about stripper watching and beer-quaffing two nights ago in Vancouver. "It was amazing. We're so hungover today," he says with a big laugh, before adding, "I haven't been in snow like this before so it's pretty amazing, too."

Fig spent the down time after the gig in Vancouver going, "Off to some strip clubs. It's crazy. Totally nude and you can drink alcohol. It was insane." This is a new experience for Fig as some nudie bars in the States don't allow some of the privileges that we take for granted when it comes to the strippers.

"You can't have alcohol and naked women in the same room. In the States you have a lot of brainless idiots that get a little alcohol in themselves and they see a naked woman and they can't be held accountable." So what can you buy when you take a trip to a strip club then? "You get really expensive juice and soda."

While Amen's guitarist was at the strip clubs, two of their members hung out with Slayer, who are recording their new album in the city of the low rising sun. "We had Kerry King (Slayer guitarist) on the bus last night, so it was pretty rockin'. When we did Tattoo The Earth he didn't really get to see us. When they were relaxing and getting ready for their show we were playing. So he enjoyed the show last night. Larkin (Amen drummer) and Sonny Mayo (Amen guitarist) got to go down to the studio and checked out some stuff."
