Like.com - Casey Chaos' likes in music, film, literature, songs and soundtracks Current albums: 1. Drowningman - Rock And Roll Killing Machine It's an agressive record. And the songs are good. 2. Slipknot - Demos It's good shit and they're friends or ours. Classic albums: 1. Black Flag - Damaged This was the first hard-core record I heard. I was totally pissed-off at all the music I was hearing. All this red-neck rock n' roll. I identified with the way the band dressed and their attitude. It was my album and my band. Their music was hard and brilliant. 2. The Adverts - Crossing the Red Sea with the Adverts They were this totally under-appreciated 1977 punk rock band that came out of England. They couldn't play their instruments very well but every song was brilliant. They had great lyrics, poetic references that set them apart from what was happening at the time. 3. The Damned - Gun Ettiquette 4. The Stooges - Fun House Fun House is the most important recording ever put to tape. It all comes from The Stooges. I mean, think for a moment. This album came out one year after the Summer of Love. Talk about a head of your time. 5. Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come Songs: 1. The Stooges - TV Eye 2. The Stooges - Dirt Soundtracks: 1. Natural Born Killers 2. Eraserhead Books: 1. Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche: Thus Spoke Zarathustra 2. William S. Burroughs: Cities of the Red Night 3. Arthur Rimbaud: A Season in Hell He's one of the so-called poets that's tasteful and almost non-poetic. 4. J.G. Ballard: Crash I really like the sexuality of man and machine in Crash. The vibe of destruction and beauty. Movies: 1. Gummo Gummo is the true America. Screw Blockbuster and their Hollywood movies. This is the real America and what's going on in society. 2. Taxi Driver 3. The Holy Mountain This was made by the Salvador Dali of film-makers. It's a genius film, pure cinema. There's no dialogue in the first half hour of the film. It's unique and original. There's nothing like this movie. 4. El Topo El Topo is a Western with Jesus. It's visionary and made by the same director as The Holy Mountain. It's completely unique. He's the Dali and Burroughs of flim-making. First concert: Devo in Orlando when I was 12. Best concert: Devo in Orlando when I was 12. Musical influences: 1. Tom Waits 2. Patti Smith 3. The Ramones 4. The Stooges 5. P.J. Harvey |
