Casey Chaos - TWEC.com web chat

Amen’s self-titled debut album is a collection of socially conscious and/or self-analyzing punk-metal with lyrics as harsh and uncompromising as the band's aggressive, noisy sound. Frontman Casey Chaos joined fans for an online chat with fans to discuss their first major-label release.

twec.com: Welcome to twec.com where tonight we have Casey Chaos from Amen! Hello Casey.

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Oi!

obey: Are you still straight edge chaos?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: I think so.

Unclean: When do you leave for Europe with Machine Head?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: End of November, all through December.

shavosecho: What do you plan on doing after the European tour? Any more U.S. dates?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Hopefully going out on tour throughout January and February, and recording the new album the following month.

turdsnak: Where can I get Amen merchandise?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: boldmerch.com. Roadrunner Records is where to get posters.

my obey: What happened to the Slave album?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: 500 copies and it floated to the top of the sea.

Casey: Is the show with System of a Down still on for Nov. 19 at the Troubador?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: I think System is going out with Limp Bizkit.

fevered: Where do you get the inspiration for your lyrics?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Living in America, Los Angeles, the epicenter of all problems.

TVWomb: Can you tell us your favorite road story?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Sleeping with all of Slipknot every night, and Adam from Machine Head.

no morals: Casey, what songs are going to be on the new EP?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: "Coma America," "Whores of Hollywood," "Life Crime," "Lovers are Killers," and "Black God."

Steve: How are the groupies?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: I don't know. Ask Sonny.

turdsnak: Is the Amen digipak ever gonna come out in America?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Possibly in six months.

Unclean: Hey Casey, who's your favorite black metal band? And Nordic band?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Satiricon and Emperor.

Steve: What is the best part of touring?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Playing every night and hanging out with all of our friends.

my obey: What do you think of heavy music today?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Depends on what definition heavy? As far as commercial music, I think Britney Spears is very heavy.

UNclean: Who are some of your favorite underground bands?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Cave In, Zao, Refused.

my obey: Will you put "Laughing" or "Blind Serenade" on the new record?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Who the fuck is ‘my obey’?! Put your real name!

Naked&Violent: How is the new album compared to the first, anything changed?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: This is the first album. The other thing was a glorified demo.

turdsnak: How long did it take Ross Robinson to get to where he is today? I want to be just like him and produce bad ass bands like yourself.

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Probably 8 years.

no morals: Casey, do you still use ‘the coffin’ for recording?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Every day.

Unclean: Casey, why do you like black/death metal so much?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Because I think it's the only true punk rock of today. It's truly the only un-motivated money music, as far as the cohesive scene goes.

Amen rulz: What other music do you listen to besides yours?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: The Swans, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Black Flag, Diamanda Galas, and anything that's real.

no morals: "Laughing" is the most amazing song in Casey Chaos history! Please release it!

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Who is no morals? Hate your name. Thanks a lot.

ROOTS: What do you think of Korn?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Korn is Korn. I think they're a great band for what they're doing.

my obey: Casey, do you still use a 16 track at home or are you digital now?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Still using the 16 track. my obey - I refuse to answer any more questions until you reveal your name! Kingfish, what's up?

no morals: Do you hate my name because it was one of the first songs that you ever wrote?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Yup.

amensux: What would you recommend to a band that is just starting out as far as recording and promoting their stuff?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: You have a great username. I would recommend to keep doing what you're doing now. Thanks for all the support Joe. All the boys are here saying ‘Hey.’

ROOTS: Do you know when are you coming to South America?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: No idea at this time, hopefully within the year 2000.

EarthGonePluto: Can I have your email? I need to talk to you. We have the same interests.

AMEN – Casey Chaos: E-mail us at whoresofhollywood.com.

Evergreen: Where are the other guys in the band tonight?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Hey Kingfish - Sonny sends his love. And all the boys are here rehearsing.

UNclean: Are Paul Fig's dread's fake like Dopes?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: No, Paul's are all real - and smell real!

ROOTS: Why is Ross different from other producers?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: ‘Cause he cares more about the vibe and performance than the sound.

SprucePine: How did you hook up with Roadrunner?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Through Ross Robinson.

ROOTS: What are you expecting to heal in the year 2000?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: I don't expect anything to be healing.

hollywoodwhore: When is the new EP coming out?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: EP in Europe only, limited edition, and only on sale through December.

cheese: Is there ever a time when you think you’re too loud?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Not yet.

Downhuman: What do you think of the bootlegs of your music?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: It's fine with me. Bootleg all you want.

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Definitely.

Matt: What’s your Web site address?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: www.whoresofhollywood.com

shavosecho: Can you elaborate on sleeping with Adam Duce please.

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Adam doesn't shower for weeks, will wear the same leather pants for weeks, sleeps with about 3 women per night, and is the man of every human's dream.

Amen rulz: What do you do when you are not touring?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Getting kicked off tours, and writing.

ROOTS: The question before was supposed to be, what are you expecting to hear in the year 2000? What kind of music?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: More violence, more American propaganda, more lies, and hopefully a death to all money-motivated music.

cheese: Who did your latest albums cover art?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Dean Karr did the photography, I did the layout.

Unclean: What bands would you like to tour with next?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Emperor, System of a Down, Machine Head, Soulfly, Slipknot.

no morals: Does "The Weed" (Paul) still break 10 strings a night?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: 10 strings a song.

hollywoodwhore: What do you think of more bands going mainstream?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: I think if you're mainstream for the sake of money - fuck off.

Stoney: Did you have any jobs before making it into the music business

AMEN – Casey Chaos: No.

UNclean: Why are you so goddamn angry?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Because I'm not asleep!

Cheese: I thought Slipknot was a Dead cover band.

AMEN – Casey Chaos: There is one on the East Coast, that's true.

amensux: If my band ever gets a following will you let us open for you in the future?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: If the name of the band is amensux, definitely.

comacasey: Casey, have fans shown you respect on tour?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Yeah, definitely.

no morals: Casey, I got "No Morals" from the White Tape. Any plans to re-record "Cracks..." or "Long Live the Plague?"

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Only if you play on it no morals.

LimpSucks: What do you think about the bands that are selling out on MTV.

AMEN – Casey Chaos: I don't think about them. I don't contribute to the problem.

Amy: Where is the best place you guys have played?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Every place we played was the best.

i am the gun: Casey, can you set the record straight on getting booted from the tour?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: The tour manager for Coal Chamber ‘Amen is too dangerous for the bill, one of these nights someone is going to get hurt, the blame will be shifted on my shoulders, and I can't afford to take on that responsibility.’

Jody: Are any of you married?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: No, nobody married.

Cas: When you do shows, do you meet with fans?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Every night. We are always around to meet everyone.

Cheese: Why the name, Amen? I mean, you’re not a Christian band.

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Because I wanted to sugarcoat the shit - like America. And make it hypocritical as possible. When people think it's a Christian band, it's the exact opposite.

Unclean: Chaos, what is your favorite movie of all time?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Gummo.

ROOTS: What do you think of Marilyn Manson?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: The same thing I think of cotton candy and Tommy Hilfiger.

AMEN – Casey Chaos: No.

comacasey: I just wanted to tell you guys you really tore Roseland down in NYC on the LLVL tour!

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Thank you very much.

Hollywoodwhore: What do you think of the new Limp Bizkit?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: I haven't heard it.

Amensux: Ever play at the Birch Hill?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: I don't know. Joe - as far as Ozzfest, we'll play anywhere that will have us.

Paul: Any solo projects in the works?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Sonny and Tumor worked on the Lynn Straight tribute record. Other than that, nothing else.

i am the gun: Is Dave F. still alive?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Dave F. is still barely alive.

UNclean: Any love songs on the horizon?

AMEN – Casey Chaos: Every song's a love song!
