Rowena Wallace and World Vision

WORLD VISION

Rowena has been an instrumental figure in the recognition and support of the World Vision Organisation in Australia since 1984. Her efforts and dedication have raised millions of dollars to help support much needed health and educational programs in the underdeveloped countries of the world.

Rowena's first visit to Africa was in January 1984, during the christmas break in the filming of Sons and Daughters. She travelled with an eight-member team (including Co-presenter Roger Climpson), to make a documentary in the countries of Ethiopia & Cambodia. In Cambodia they visited orphanages, schools & hospitals to see first hand the plight of the children there. When the documantary aired on telvision a few months later, audiences saw her so emotionally moved that she broke-down and cried over the tragic conditions she witnessed the people in these countries dealing with.

"I believe we should all help each other. It's a natural thing to do: if you have the oportunity, you have a kind of responsability to use it to help those who can't help themselves. One has to lend a hand.

"When I first heard about it, I just had this feeling I had to do this. It is important to me. A little voice inside said: 'Yes, this is right', as if I'd been expecting it.

"I feel very grateful for all the things I've had - a terrific career, friends, money. I've waited for an oportunity to give something back."

"This page is still under construction. Please call back soon."
