In the Begining - Back in 1995
(to paraphrase AC/DC)

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, there existed a small but loud collection of people who went by the moniker of ‘Punishment Due’, who over time dwindled until there were but two, Gary and Droid. These erstwhile performers felt that it was time to branch into pastures new and seeing as they were vocalist and guitarist respectively it was time to fill out the sound and generally mug any musicians passing by and press gang them into a sort of ‘sonic’ alliance.

The first contender was a bassist by the name of Guy who the boys had been introduced to during their time in Punishment Due. Many months were spent sitting in Guy’s sitting room sipping tea, scaring the cat and generally trying to get some semblance of original songs together.

During these long arduous months several attempts at finding a drummer were undertaken which included the use of several lengths of rope and a branding iron. Still there was no joy. A chance meeting at a Terrorvision gig led to Gary being introduced to a drummer by the name of Adam. It wasn’t until nearly six months later that the penny dropped (singers and drummers heh! Ed) and Adam was invited to join the band via a mutual friend who went by the name of ‘Noisy’, (he crops up again later).

Many months of slave labour mentality resulted in a ‘gigable’ set of songs which resulted in the band breaking loose of the confines of the rehearsal hall in April ’97. It was a low profile gig supporting a bunch of Gary’s friends and took place on the Easter weekend in the far off reaches of Wooton Bassett.

As the months progressed more gigs ensued and Sad but True entered the realms of biker rallies, steadily building up their live performance and repertoire, but still there was something missing. Enter Caroline to add some much-needed ‘fresh air’ to the vocal line-up and the rest as they say is history.

For those of you who have attended our gigs will not have failed to notice that occasionally a tall skinny git by the name of Noisy comes up and plays guitar on a few numbers, and generally make a nuisance of himself. Although not a full member of the band he is a very good friend and seems to take no notice when we tell him to ‘S** Off!’
