  • Welcome to my own little corner of oblivion. It’s nice here on the web if Guy isn’t trying to drop photos on you or stick you in the ear with a cursor. It’s a dark little world full of wonderful shades of grey and other colours (but I like grey, I like black even better,) and no one can really find you unless they look really hard (can you see me, I’m waving.)

Anyway back to the serious stuff, (what serious stuff?) I am “cough” years old, with a serious sense of humour defect, I think I’m funny. No one else does. Maybe I’m just sad? I’ve been playing in bands for about fifteen years but have been playing almost non-stop for the past ten years moving from band to band playing all sorts of music and hopefully getting better doing it.

Became a ‘rock fan’ listening to Queen’s ‘Killer Queen’ only later to pick up on Kiss and Rush. It was then that I had my blinding flash of utter godlike proportions, I heard the first Van Halen album. I also fell in love with UFO, Thin Lizzy and Judas Priest. To those of you who are younger in years let it also be said that I like Korn, Deftones, Monster Magnet, Terrorheart and Wildvison (?), and loads of other stuff (but not Steps) far too numerous to contemplate.

My role in this band is that of ‘frontperson’, you could call me a singer but I wouldn’t own up to it, I get by. I also provide most of the original material and still have stacks of other stuff waiting in the cobweb infested wings. The difference between the subject matter I’ve written for this band and that which has been written in other bands I’ve been in, is that it’s more personal based on people I know and emotions I go through (yes, a man of the 90s). Previous stuff was more fantasy based, musical storytelling if you like.

Although I write all the material on guitar I usually let Droidy play all the live stuff cause to be fair he is the better guitarist. I am hoping to play my axe more over the next year which will also coincide with Caroline doing more lead vocals. I may even play some keyboards soon.

Over the next year we are hoping to include lots of new cover versions and somewhere along the way slip in some of that newer material I’ve stockpiled as well as contributions from the rest of the band. Make that ‘over the next two years.’

Anyway time to go, places to see, people to go (?)

    Live long and legless.

Gary luvs his gear! So here's more stuff on it (Guy)

    My Rig.

Well seeing as I am the singer ( kind of) you’d think I wouldn’t have much stuff, well you’d be wrong. I’m also a frustrated harmonica player and an even more frustrated guitar player, all the stuff is listed below:

    Guitars:

  • Bastardised ‘79 Fen der strat with Kahler trem and a very beefy EMG pick-up, with original ‘Eddie Van Halen’ paint job. Found in a second hand shop in ‘86, has been favourite axe since then, nicknamed ‘Eddie’ of course.
  • Fender squire strat, close your eyes you wouldn’t know the difference from an original Fender (yeah right). Great for playing in a more subtle, blues or jazzy style (doesn’t get used live that often then,) nicknamed Smokey because of it’s tobacco sunburst finish.
  • There are other guitars that I use but don’t play that often. Very fond of playing Guy’s ‘73 Gibson SG, but please don’t tell him he only gets jealous.
  • Amps:

  • An Old JCM 100 watt Marshall bought off Droidy ( a bargain), played through a two speaker bastardised Marshall cab (don’t ask), gives me a great sound with a very warm tone, haven’t tweaked it to perfect yet.
  • Pedals:

  • I use a very basic Boss BE5 pedal board which is both suitable for guitar and harmonica, hooked up with a cry baby wah-wah and a Ibanez flanger which has no subtlety what so ever and I love it.
  • PA:

  • Peavey XR600 which I use for small gigs, through HYSIS 2 x 2 and any monitors I can get my hands on.
  • Mics:

  • I use anything I can put my hands on Shure 58s if possible. For harmonica I use a Shure Green Bullet which I’m still getting used to.
  • Harmonicas:

  • My favourite harp is a Hohner Blues Harp but have used Lee Oskers which are still very good but they don’t have as good a tone as the Hohner.
