Not really Saltaire - Thornton is 3.5 miles/5.5km away over the
hills at the head of Bradford Dale - but it should be better
known and Barbara Whitehead, the biographer of Charlotte
Bronte's friend Ellen Nussey, should be
supported in her efforts to restore the house. It is on a much
smaller scale than Howarth Parsonage but contains many original
fittings - objects which the young Bronte children would have
seen every day.
