The approach to the Faerie Glen, MOIDART

This is my favourite easy walk in all Scotland. I found it through Wendy Wood's book:- MOIDART and MORAR, in which she describes
her childhood in Morar. The walk begins from Blane near Acharacle, passes by bubbling streams and ruined clachans, and descends
through an exquisitely beautiful mini glen to near Castle Tioram. Once seen never forgotten. Trust me!

Ruined Big House, Coll, 1977

A MacLeod Chief held the castle on the beautiful pink granite island of Coll.
This major house was the home of his main tacksman. The huge crack in the gable tells you why it was abandoned, but locals tell another story of a witch's revenge!

St.Finan's Isle, Loch Sheil, MOIDART

Hire a boat on Loch Sheil and take it to see the ancestral burial isle. St.Finan's chapel is there, complete with a working
replica of the bronze bell used since ancient times. Go in June, when the wild flowers are most colourful.

Ancient Blackhouse, Coll, 1977

This is one of several unrestored BLACKHOUSES on Coll. It is still used as a store by the crofter. Blackhouse construction dates back many hundreds of years.
