The Scottish National Cavy Club was founded around 1880 and was then known as the Scottish Rabbit, Cavy and Cat Club. Nowadays the club is devoted to Cavies ( Guinea Pigs) and the aim is to encourage the breeding and exhibition of purebred Cavies in Scotland. Points are awarded for best of breed at each show, with certificates, rosettes and trophies to be won. The largest of all the shows is the Championship Show which is held in Dunblane each October. This is a very popular show attracting in excess of 200 Guinea Pig entries. The Club is a non-profit making organisation run by and for its almost 100 members who attend the 9 shows which are held annually. The club also hosts a Pet section at each show, which has entries mainly from younger members. Opportunities exist for members to train as Stewards and to learn the correct handling techniques and grooming. |
Urgent Member Notice Please return all trophies which were won more than one year ago, to Brian Leiper! |
