In the next part we would like to explain you step-by-step how you could make a backup of your Tripod-Account.
A backup refers to making copies of data so that these additional copies may be used to restore the original after a data loss event. These additional copies are typically called “backups.”
In contrast to our fee required webhosting service, Tripod is not able to give you an automatically backup service.
Because of the moving of our servers into a new data center, it might will cause a few problems. That’s why we suggest that you should create a backup of all your Tripod data, so, in a case of lost data, you will be able to restore your files.
Beside without our moving to the new data center we would like to urge you to make regularly backups.
step-by-step Guide:
- Create a folder, in which you want to save your data.
- Create a connection over a FTP-program:
- FTP-Server: ftp.members.lycos.co.uk
- Username: Name of the site (f.e.: username)
- Password: Login Password of the site
- Connection-Typ: passiv
- Mark all date, that you want to save and draw them into the folder which you have created in point 1.
- To upload your date later, you have to repeat step 3. and at this time you have to draw your data into the FTP directory
Sorry but I don’t understand what needs to e done to save the data, especially
“create a connection over a FTP progranmme…”
Could you clarify please
thank you
It means you should get access via your FTP-Tool!
Sounds good!
Does the MySQL maximum size increase from 10Mb to larger by moving?
In discussion forum they says (year 2002) that the whole size is 50Mb including web pages, but in myaccount it shows that MySQL-size is 10Mb and its nearly used…
My forum is quite active, and want not to delete messages if possible.
Yours service has worked now 3 years fine, but this 10Mb banner is problem for me now
i agree with you dear hallon
because i have a site too and i think it will cause a broblem after it would be nearly used
and i requist to increase the database size so that we can benifit it more….
you dont have a specification on this site to show what your offering to the customer you need to be more clear on what your offering on your web hosting section. all i know is that theres 1 GB of space and a few others.
1 Gig! I have more than that for gmail! Is that to cover native data and backup! How many copies of backup is the norm for you? If I run with a thirty day archive (which is the min recommended) I will have 1/31 of a gig for active data. If I try a years archive I will have 1/366 of space for active data. IRS require seven years!!

Better than Google Pages which are offering 100 MB …
I stick to Tripod!
