Two hundred years after the Great War, the vastly populated
Republic of worlds, governed by the great and mighty super-beings, has become
the dominant force in the galaxy. Diverging
from its original charter of
keeping the peoples of the galaxy protected from the opposing forces of
villainy, it has become a large and bloated bureaucracy, taking up the task of
rule by government. Now crisis,
scandal, and the menace of war threaten to break the long-standing "era of
peace", and the out of practice heroes must renounce the role of
politician, and once again become warriors, fighting in the name of their mighty
Heroes' Republic.
| Michael J. Hanson tells a fast-paced science
fiction/fantasy story of galactic proportion centering on the persona of
Roman Empire leader Marcus Aurelius.
A work of both cultural and historical
interest, the comic book-like backdrop and super-heroic characters make it
accessible to all ages from teen comic readers, to more mature audiences.
The novel explores the nature of heroism and the values therein for the
modern era, and is laden with references to the culture and governmental
workings of the ancient Roman Empire. |
