Welcome to the website of South Norwood Methodist
Church! Here you can find information about our church, its
activities and worship, its history and present day mission.
South Norwood Methodist Church is a long established
congregation in the north of the London Borough of Croydon, at the bottom
of South Norwood Hill. We are part of the Croydon Circuit of the Methodist
Church and a member of Christians Together in South Norwood.
Our present church was dedicated in 1975, remodelled from
what was originally the church hall. Some features from the original church were kept, giving an attractive and flexible centre for worship, blending
together the old and new. The site of the old church is now occupied by a residence for the elderly.
The church has a current membership of 55. Some of our members have
been associated with us for many years. However, the congregation, like the local community, is always changing, and our
membership today reflects the multicultural neighbourhood in which we are set.
After a period of decline, the congregation is
growing again and looking afresh at the ministry and mission we can offer to the community of South Norwood. If you are visiting the area, or looking for a
local church, why not join us for worship one Sunday?
