South Norwood Methodist Church
exists for the following purposes:
 |
Worship |
To glorify God: by regularly offering prayer to him at services of
public worship (which may include the sacrament of Holy Communion),
and by encouraging individual worship, through his Son Jesus Christ,
according to the beliefs and standards of the Methodist tradition.
 |
Membership |
To encourage all persons who confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and
Saviour (and accept the obligation to serve him in the life of the
Church and the world) to become, if they wish, full members of the
Methodist Church, whilst rejoicing in the diversity of different
traditions.
 |
Study |
To encourage a regular study of the Holy Scriptures and other
sources of information, both as individuals and as groups.
 |
Service and unity |
To maintain the common life of worship and service in this
neighbourhood and to encourage participation in the activities of
Christians Together in South Norwood and Churches Together in the
Borough of Croydon.
 |
Pastoral care |
To offer fellowship, comfort and care to all persons in need and, to
assist in this work, to maintain a register of all members of this
Church and all persons who have expressed an interest in it.
 |
Giving |
To encourage responsible giving for the continuing work of the
Church, both by donation of monetary gifts and by giving of time and
ability.
 |
Mission |
To encourage members in their individual commitment to work out
their faith in daily life, by offering personal service to the
community, the Christian use of resources and their support of the
Church in its total world mission.
