Bongos are a
much more versatile instrument than many
people realize.
We usually think of these two miniature
drums, held
between the knees and rapped with the fingers
as an exciting
addition to a rhythm section, used primarily
for the percussive
excitement they can create. But there is
a subtle, melodic
side to the Bongos, too. They can add a
provocative
accent to a gentle and melodious arrangement,
urging it suavely
along with just the suggestion of rhythmic
spice. This
subtle, swinging use of Bongos gives unusual
excitement to
the lovely, imaginative arrangements of some
of the great
classics of popular music played on this album.
Bongos have
become the most exciting new sound in todays
American music.Each
song is a carefully cultivated musical
gem, spiced
and carried along by the remarkable virtuosity of
the exciting
Bongos and Los Muchachos Locos.
