WILLIAM HARVEY
Born: March? 15, 1818 (Torbryan parish records).
What I know of William is largely pieced together from newspaper records.
A William Harvey of Torbryan married "Ann" Palk in 1849, according to
Keith Matthews' records. For the period from 1836-1857, I have three
baptism records for children of a William Harvey, carpenter from
St.John's, and wife Mary Ann - one child name Joanna Palk (connection?).
Newspaper records cite the death of William Harvey, "son of the late
William Harvey", funeral from mother's residence, Palk Cottage". The age
at death matches the birth date of William, son of William & Mary Ann.
Mary Ann's death was recorded in the newspaper, the funeral being from
"Tor Cottage", Riverhead.
From all this, it would appear William & Mary Ann lived in a house owned
by her father, George Palk, in Riverhead, which was near Southside, at the
mouth of the Waterford River. The cottage may have been later renamed "Tor
Cottage". William died some time prior to 1870. If indeed William was
Richard Harvey's brother, born 1818, it would appear he married late. I
have not yet found the marriage record, so the connection between William
and Torbryan is still somewhat speculative.
